This open camp tent area is owned by (and was/is built by) the former HGTV host of the show "Tiny House Builders". The site also houses a "wooden tent" or micro glamping pod named "The Little Lantern" (a second listing) that is fun to check out, take pix of, store gear in- the structures serve as windbreaks and shade walls for tent campers and you can hang out on the benches near them, use their fire pits, and so on. The owner is also the author of several design and budget-build/reuse books (the bestseller "Micro Shelters" and others). Decades back this land was the site of an old RV park, so we've been in the long process of cleaning it up and removing junk from some corners of the site- but a bit still remains (its NOT pristine- still in the works). As a result you'll find some cool, weird, and unusual detritus and salvage out here (but not so much close to the camp spots)- old car parts, industrial knobs and dials- feel free to explore. Camp at your own risk though if you wander off to check this stuff out. The immediate camping area is cleared/clean. This has made it a favorite spot for junk collectors and photographers (we've found everything from old coins, to actual silver, cool rocks/geodes, and vintage car parts). This place would also make for a great spot for video or fashion shoots (which aren't allowed unless you seek separate permission from us!). Its a dirt site, but easy to get into, easy to pull into and turn around in (even with an RV), and you basically have about 5 acres all to yourself in most cases. There is one other camp site on the property (two total- the little lantern, and the van area for tenting- they are separate and spread out). Note: As I'm not sure of the current hip camp/country standings (new vague rules), I had removed this listing/put it on "hold", but it keeps going live/not adjusting- for that reason I'm just going to keep it live and allow people to book/stay until things are figured out by hip camp (so as not to inconvenience anyone).

Cute little cabin getaway 😻 Host provided yoga mats, toaster over, induction cooktop and shower essentials. I had a much needed solo retreat at this beautiful little desert place. Make sure you close the dumpster lid when taking the trash out! While you're there, visit the Noah Purifoy outdoor desert art museum nearby.✌️

Great spot to take in a beautiful view. I was fortunate to get there in a slow period with no other campers so it felt like I had the whole place to myself! I also love that the place is essentially a love letter from the owner to his family. All of the buildings were designed and built with individual family members in mind. As for the location itself, it is completely off grid which is my favorite part. With that said, the roads are a bit rough for the inexperienced road tripper/ camper, and the neighbors who live there create some noise pollution in the distance. I say this to advise the glamper looking for an instagram experience/moment to set proper expectations. (Worth it though for some incredible shots for the gram). Tammy is a kind host that loves the land and all the animals that come through it. That's the energy people can expect with this place. It's a great spot I look forward to returning to!

This site was perfect to escape the city and be able to take in the quiet night sky. There are some homes nearby so you don't feel totally freaked out, but you have plenty of privacy. Having our own out house made a huge difference and it was clean. Directions are perfect and thoroughly enjoyed our stay here.

Had so much fun start gazing and relaxing here. It was perfect and cozy for 2. Certainly some things that could be fixed but that didn’t stop us from having a great time. Having only stayed one night, I can’t wait to go back and spend possibly a few days here. Might need fixing: Side door didn’t close properly, bed support wooden pieces fell off during the night , space heater didn’t work. Honestly was so worth it for just being one night. 10/10 would recommend for a little get away from the city.

The cabin was beautiful inside and out. Follow their directions and for the safest and sure way to get to the campsite. You can use a sedan. I was coming from the west. Bumpy roads are better than sandy roads. The cabin has just about everything except for a TV which is okay given the beautiful nature just outside. Their couch is in poor condition but the bed is good. Great home base to go and explore the area. Would highly recommend!

Tammy and Miss Piggy were super friendly. Tammy's response time was quick and communication was clear. Miss Piggy was adorable and did not mind my rowdy dogs. I was mostly climbing in the park so I was only at the campground at night. I love the tranquility of the campground, and the ability to gaze the stars at night. Albeit camping alone, I felt very safe staying at Simply Duke :)

We loved tent camping at Copper Moon! We have 3 dogs and they can be a bit anxious and barky at busy campgrounds so this quiet campsite was perfect for us. We appreciated the remote feel and the view of the nightsky was amazing. There were 3 or 4 different firepits you could chose from and plenty of areas to pitch your tent. We have already. booked a second trip! :)

My family had a great time camping here. It was awesome being secluded and having so much space to ourselves, but nice to be close enough to town if we needed any supplies. There are others camping in the distance on BLM land and you can hear people riding ATV’s in the background, but it was not a bother at all. Having the deck was really nice, as well as the picnic table. We also made good use of the fireplace. We will definitely come back.

Everything as described, nice isolation from the city with good enough space to enjoy. There was some miscommunication here and there due to the busy day since it was a holiday. However Tammy's attempt later on to sort things out for us was more than enough to overcome the miscommunication. She is a lovely host and me and my friends still had one of the best nights out. One thing to note is although it is definitely 2WD capable, the route it quite long and bit rough (I took my vw golf). Overall great stay, thanks again Tammy!

We loved the serenity at Tammy's camp. We arrived after it had gotten dark and Tammy was very prompt and helpful, via messaging, in getting us to the right location within the campground. It's a long trek out there by sandy dirt roads but it was well worth the effort to get away from the crowds of Joshua Tree NP. We're not real big desert fans but to be out on that open land, feeling one with nature, witnessing the most gorgeous pink sunsets lighting up the distant mountains, we came away with a new appreciation for the desert world.
