Nestled amongst the red pine forest of George W. Mead State Wildlife Area (over 33,000 acres of public land use including bird watching, hiking, kayaking, fishing, and more), you will find the historical "Dancy Depot!" Great for folks just travelling through, bikepackers, adventure-seekers, artists, and folks looking for a fun getaway, alike! This site houses the original train station and post office, built in the 1850's, for the town of Dancy, Wisconsin. Not only that, it is now the site of Dancy Art Camp, and campers have access to all the fun art camp spaces during your stay. Art workshops and/or classes led by Dancy Art Camp Leaders (also conveniently your camp hosts) can be added on to your stay for an additional cost, for adults, children, or all ages. Take a short 1-3 minute walk back into the woods to choose an area to set up your tent. There are several open air shelters available for day use. Make friends with the host chickens (Pizza, Helen, Quartz, Oreo, Big Brownie, Aunt Kathy, Cherry, Garcia, Little Orp, and Linguine) and get some fresh eggs for your breakfast. Baked goods and other treats also available for purchase upon request. You will have full access to the campfire circle, outdoor game room (foosball for the win!), and nature playscape (yes, even adults can swing on the rope!). The property also provides other outdoor games such as good ole' fashioned tetherball, a gaga ball pit (Israeli Dodgeball), and a variety of other sport equipment to use during your stay. This area offers a host of additional activities and amenities. Boating, swimming, fishing, and other water activities are abundant, with the closest water access less than 5 minutes away. Conveniently located between Wausau, Mosinee, Stevens Point, and Marshfield.

This is an 30 acre family owned, wooded area perfect for anyone who wants a quiet secluded getaway to relax in nature and unplug. You can sit in the grass driveway and see all the stars at night too! 🌟 We are located a few minutes from Bear Lake Campground too! There is a fire pit, otherwise it’s just you and nature! No hookups or water, for the bathroom we ask you to dig a cat hole and cover with dirt or bring your own portable toilet. The property is perfect for your tent, hammock, camper van or pop up camper. There is not designated camping spots so you can camp anywhere on the grass or in the woods (: We suggest if you have a RV/ pop up camper to park on the grass on the outskirts of the woods Make sure to bring some bug spray! More about the Property: - This is an 30 acre wooded area. There is a grass driveway that leads to the woods. The farther back part of the woods can be muddy so we suggest to stay around the fire pit area. - There is some piled wood you can use for fires which should be good for a night. Feel free to pick up some of the small pieces of wood on ground for fires. There are houses nearby, gas stations and bear lake campground that sell firewood too - We have a few neighbors (not too close by tho) but ask for no loud noise after 9pm - There is NO electricity, water or toilets or internet - For bathrooms - Please bring your own toilet/camper toilet or make a “cat hole”, dig a hole, do your business and cover with dirt Nearby Locations: - Bear Lake Campground - only a few minutes away! They have a lake to swim at, bar, restaurant and more campsites - La Margarita Mexican grill - great Mexican restaurant! - Willow Pond Bed and Breakfast - Olde Country Store and Antiques - Royalton Gas Station

Man-made pond about 1 acre with fish and sandy beach for swimming. A swing and docks for going into the water. Paddleboats, kayaks, and floating mats for swimming in the pond. A 30x24 Pavillion with picnic tables, a large griddle, 3 burner propane for cooking, countertops, and a refrigerator. 2 - 14 x 20 cabins with 2 lofts each and a queen bed on the main floor, each cabin can sleep 6 comfortably. Cabins have a TV with wifi and countertop/ cupboards and a corner table. Bathhouse 12 x 12 with running water & and a kitchen sink in one half and a compostable toilet with a stand-up shower. We also have a firepit outside the pavilion and a sand volleyball court along with other games like carpetball, and cornhole. We are located on a dead-end road where renters can take a quiet walk 1/2 mile to the woods and follow atv trails for about a mile walk or walk along the farm fields. Just down the road are also small farm animals like mini donkeys, goats, and sheep along with beef cows to look and possible pet. Citizen scientists and professionals alike can get a sense of what is involved in land restoration and see firsthand the results. Guests can hike and take wildlife photographs. There is an abundance of native oak savanna/prairie species such as wild lupine, big blue stem, bergamot, dotted horse mint, lead plant etc. Property is 15 minutes to Hartman Creek state park, which offers swimming , fishing, and hiking. The Chain o Lakes Waupaca/King is 25 minutes. Crystal River offers tubing and kayaking which is a 25 minute drive. Historic downtown Waupaca 25 to 30 minutes. Downtown Wild Rose is 15 minutes. EAA Air Venture grounds are 1 hour and 56 miles. With the nice-sized camp/picnic area, guests can relax, look down on a portion of the property, enjoy the fire ring depending on burn restrictions. Bring your telescope to take in the night sky and stargaze! The property ranks a 4 on the 1 to 9 Bortle scale for light pollution, with 9 having the most pollution. The property is close (2.4 miles) to a non-connected portion of the Ice Age Trail. Depending on the time of the summer, photographing the Federally endangered Karner Blue Butterfly is a possibility! Tent is a canvas outfitter-style 12 x 12 tent. Electricity is provided at the site with one extension cord that reaches inside the tent. There is also a metal park-style charcoal grill on site adjacent to the the tent.
