A genuine wilderness experience with forest (tree) bathing, spring fed creeks and total peace for you and your group very close to Melbourne. You can hopefully spot our resident platypus and kangaroos, wallabies, echidnas, wombats etc. There’s also abundant bird life including lyre birds and eagles. Explore all the Yarra Ranges has to offer including a short walk to Shiprock Falls. Grab a coffee or pizza in nearby Gembrook and checkout some farm produce from your hosts before you leave. We have added a composting toilet, a drinking water tank and a bush pole shelter with cold water kitchen sink, phone charger ports, lights and hot water to a private shower and a picnic table with seats under cover. We have an adjacent fire pit area with tree log seating. You can order firewood from us too and a Coleman gas cooker with gas bottle (see extras). Nestled amongst the mountains just outside of the township of Whittlesea our 40-acre property sits above the clouds. This experience comes with sweeping views, a hidden waterfall, a clear campground, and plenty of wildlife. The camping area is accessible by 4WD only, otherwise, strap on a backpack and earn it! (800m walk/hike from where a non-4WD can park). The waterfall is reached by a single trail track from the campsite, and you do need to be an experienced hiker to get to the waterfall. Which is part of the appeal! We welcome self-contained campers, who bring their own toilet and take all waste with them. We have a strict Leave No Trace policy. Or choose to stay in our beautiful A-frame cabin, with plush bedding, cozy fire, and outdoor lounge. More than anything else this is a place to relax and be away from normal, live outside yourself, and rediscover what weekends are for. Dogs are welcome, so long as they don't bother the wildlife. Guests are welcome to visit the Tea Room, open 10am – 5pm Wednesday through Sunday. Our daily menu contains a selection of delicious cakes, devonshire tea, toasted sandwiches, specialty pies and weekly specials and of course, tea and coffee. Breakfast is served all day. Browse in the galleries or wander around the beautiful gardens which have trees more than 100 years old, some listed on the National Trust register. Meet our 2 Dromkeen alpacas Hannah and Lilly. ***Please note, we are a rubbish free campsite, so campers are asked to take their rubbish with them. Dromkeen has very clean toilets, but a reminder there are NO showers. Also all sites are unpowered, but upon request prior to arrival a powered spot may be available at an extra $10 a day. We are 10 minutes from Kinglake township and 15 mins to Yarra Glen, which means a quick trip if you need supplies. The highway is close by which makes it handy to get out and about. Wildlife we have seen on the property includes Wallabies, Echidna, and an abundance of bird life. Laugh with the Kookaburras at sunset. Dogs are welcome however due to wildlife and the bush location, we ask that you please keep them on a lead at all times. If you are planning on bringing a dog with you, please let us know in advance. We also have horses (separate from the campsite) that campers can feed a carrot if they wish! Water is available from our stables water tank. It is Tank water so not crystal clear but think of it as euculyptus tea! NB: **We do have neighbours and the highway near by so there will be some noise . Would suit campers who want to kick the footy, wade in the river and maybe go 4wding or out and about fishing. Chris is an engineer, antique restorer and artisan working from home. I am an actor and artist working in metal, clay and paint. I'm inspired by my flower garden and the bush that frames it. Toolangi Springwater Forest Camp

The property, Springwater, is on six acres amongst the tall trees and has two ponds served by a natural spring. We only have one campsite available at the very rear beside the forest so you will have complete privacy. There is an area of thick native forest and a stand of the critically endangered bush, the Round-leaf Pomaderris, right near the camping area. There is an abundance of birdlife at the camping location, including kookaburras, fairy wrens, greater shrike thrushes, robins, bellbirds, wedge-tail eagles, magpies and owls (namely boobooks). We are within easy reach of Toolangi State Forest with many walks and trails, including the WirraWilla Rainforest Walk and the Kalatha Giant Mountain Ash tree walk. This area is also popular for 4 wheel driving and there are plenty of tracks in the nearby state forest if you have the correct gear, vehicle and an appreciation for the wilderness. Healesville, Yarra Glen and Kinglake are equal distance away (18-20 minute drives) with services, plenty of cafes, restaurants, wineries and shopping: Healesville: Coles, IGA, Aldi Yarra Glen: IGA Kinglake: Foodworks Relax around the fire in the evenings (out of the fire danger season) and enjoy some great star gazing. Sorry, no pets. There is a toilet block onsite with a camp toilet but you can bring your own camping toilet if you desire. Please leave our beautiful spot as you found it, take your rubbish with you and respect the natural environment :)

With close proximity to coffee shops and local stores of Romsey and Lancefield Providore, you have only a few minutes to drive to stock up on local produce. Walking the trials around Hanging Rock is a 10 minute drive and Mt Macedon lookout 15min.
