Moon Shadow Meadows, a secluded 40-acre hilltop retreat at 2200 feet, offers an unparalleled escape into the heart of the Cascade foothills. This serene haven, accessed via a scenic 2-mile gravel winding road through a 450-acre ranch, provides breathtaking panoramic views of Diamond Peak, Devil’s Backbone, and the surrounding mountain ranges, including the pristine North Fork Middle Fork of the Willamette River.
The property serves as a gateway to an outdoor enthusiast's paradise, boasting an onsite 1.5-mile mountain bike trail suitable for hiking, running, and wildlife observation. The region is renowned for its world-class mountain biking trails, a legacy of its logging history, and offers access to the crystal-clear waters of the Willamette River, perfect for swimming, fly fishing, and kayaking. Nearby, the historic Office Covered Bridge, and the natural hot springs of McCredie, Cougar, and Salmon Creek provide additional opportunities for exploration and relaxation.
Located just outside Westfir/Oakridge, Oregon, the area offers a tranquil, crowd-free experience, ideal for those seeking respite from bustling towns. The charming local towns, a mere 5 miles away, feature the Three-Legged Crane pub, SweetVine Bakery, and the Willamette Mercantile bike shop, along with shuttle services from Trans Cascadia Excursions and Cog Wild.
Moon Shadow Meadows embraces its remote setting, offering limited cell service and no on-site Wi-Fi, encouraging guests to disconnect and immerse themselves in nature. The Skoolie Bus at the entrance provides maps, a lending library, and a first-aid kit, ensuring guests are well-prepared for their outdoor adventures. This retreat is perfect for those seeking a genuine wilderness experience, with well-behaved pets welcome, and a reminder that uphill traffic has the right of way on the driveway. Visitors should arrive ready to enjoy the natural beauty and recreational opportunities without the distractions of modern connectivity. We are not quite Dark Sky Sanctuary- Oregon, but close proximety.
This campsite offers stunning views and a peaceful atmosphere, perfect for recharging. The hosts, Jason and Carmen, are praised for their hospitality and the well-maintained amenities. Many reviews mention the enjoyable experiences with wildlife, such as elk sightings, and the thoughtful touches like fresh eggs and homemade salsa. The drive can be challenging for larger campers, but visitors find the journey worth it for the tranquility and beauty of the location.
We stayed at site #42 (the sum of the universe). Wow what a cool location, you’re right across from Alpine mtn. You also have a great view of Paterson mtn, home of Lawer, Hardesty, & Eula trail. We purchased fresh eggs and heirloom salsa from Jason, that was awesome. It is a bit of a trek to go up and down the mtn road, but it’s worth it.
One of the best Hipcamps we’ve ever stayed at! Had a family emergency and had to reschedule last-minute, and they were very kind and accommodating. The sites are well taken care of and the considerations for campers (motion sensing light in the extremely clean port-a-potty!) showed that the hosts really care about the experience. We got there after dark, but our sunrise coffee views were 10/10. We will definitely be back!
Beautiful location, quiet, wish we had a change to check out the little bike trail but did not. Would 100% stay again. An event here would be super rad. Awesome to have eggs an produce available. Thank you!
Stunning, beautiful camp spot! We can’t wait to visit again! Fun spot to bring your bike and pedal along on Jason’s single track.
Challenging drive up the road if bringing your a heavy camper - trust Jason (no toy haulers!).
Beautiful campsite for a night! One of our favorite spots we’ve now camped
