RV campsites abound in South Carolina—some even on the oceanfront.
With seven national parks, 47 state parks, and miles of Atlantic coastline, South Carolina is a great place for RV camping. While there are plenty of designated RV parks in the state, some just outside cities like Charleston and Columbia, many South Carolina campgrounds offer RV sites with full hook-ups, along with perks such as picnic tables, grills, restrooms, laundry facilities, camp stores, and free wifi. If you’re looking for mountain scenery, the Blue Ridge Mountains in the northern part of the state offer ample opportunities for mountain biking and hiking, as well as canoeing, kayaking, and other water sports. If you’d prefer an oceanside camping experience, head to the Grand Strand, a 60-plus-mile stretch in and around Myrtle Beach that’s a hit with families. Travelers looking for a more upscale RV resort (and those who want easy access to golf courses) may want to head to Hilton Head Island, further down the coast.
