Located perfectly between Denver and Colorado Springs, Castle Rock provides easy access to Colorados two largest cities, plus a number of lake camping options. The Front Range of the Rocky Mountains rises above the horizon, promising outdoor adventures amid the pines and peaks, while area lakes are major hot spots for water sports like canoeing, boating, and water skiing. Campers can find excellent waterfront camping at Chatfield State Park and Cherry Creek State Park, both of which offer boat launches, swimming areas, biking paths, and hiking trails within 20 miles of Castle Rock. Deeper in the foothills in the Pike National Forest, Lone Rock Campground is another option. Though it isnt a lakefront campground, this spot offers easy access to the South Platte River and Cheesman Lake. Also in the area, private campsites provide a variety of experiences, with many in scenic surroundings. Electric and water hookups are available at the state park campgrounds and at some private campsites near Castle Rock.
