Wildlife in the area are Antelope, Cattle, Elk, Deer, and a large herd of Big Horn Sheep live in the hills to the north of the property. Surrounded by Stoll Mountain, Pulver Mountain, and Puma ridge this is a great open location for RV, Bus, Sprinter, Van, or Tent camping. This area is a 10 minute drive to multiple reservoirs and the Dream Stream which is some of the best fishing in Colorado. Boats, rafts, etc are allowed on different reservoirs. With this site being around 3000 feet from the reservoir you will be able to enjoy all the amazing views and amenities the reservoir has to offer without the crowded camp grounds. You will need a park pass to access the reservoir but not to camp on the land. A 1/4 mile down the road is access to nation forest for going off road or get a parks pass and fish at one of the many amazing fisheries in the area like Eleven mile, Spinney and Eleven mile canyon. The south shore boat ramp is less than 4 miles away. This area does get windy so be careful setting up awnings and pop up tents or anything the wind likes to blow away. The site has a slight pitch but leveling out your camper should be relatively easy. No trees on the land to block your 360 degree mountain views.

4 nights at Laughing Valley Retreat

We had an awesome time at the Laughing Valley Ranch! Bill showed us around and we loved looking at the animals, he’s a very knowledgeable and kind man. The campsite was an a gorgeous outlook that made for fantastic views. We are birders, so loved all of the cool birds around. Joe also made our stay super easy and comfortable! He gave us rides to the site, made sure we had wood and water, and showed us some cool spots around the land. Big shoutout to Joe! Overall we really enjoyed our time here, great place to get away and take in the mountain view’s for a couple of days, while not being super far from Denver and the cute town of Idaho Springs. Recommend this spot for any hiking, camping, or overall nature lovers.

This is one of the most beautiful camp sites we have been to this year. Tim is great to work with and we appreciate him for sharing this property with us. If you get a chance to book, I would highly suggest you do. Spending time fishing with my young grandaughter was the best part of our trip. and the fishing was excellent. I also loved being able to take my dogs without any worries. Just a beautiful property.

We recently had the pleasure of camping at Wideawake Ranch & Waterhouse and it was easily one of the most thoughtful and rejuvenating camping experiences we’ve ever had. From the start, Simmons went above and beyond. Before we even arrived, she reached out to ask if we wanted to schedule a soak or use paddleboards since we were among the last guests before the season’s close. She even offered a sample of their incredible spring water and made sure we had everything we might need—including towels. When we arrived, she guided us to our campsite, making us feel completely cared for from the moment we got there. Later, Gwen and Matt came to set up our soak, and they were equally amazing. They walked us through how everything worked, shared local tips and recommendations, and their kindness made the experience even better. The whole team clearly loves what they do, and it shows in every interaction.The landscape was stunning, the soak was unforgettable, and every part of the stay felt curated with care and authenticity. WA’s mission of helping guests reconnect with nature, others, and themselves really shines through. What truly stood out was our engagement with Joe, who took us on a tour and showed us all the cool ranch animals — his enthusiasm and kindness made the visit memorable. When a storm was approaching, Joe went above and beyond to ensure our tent was securely latched and that we felt safe and comfortable. This site is absolutely stunning. Super secluded, no one near you, wide open with amazing views. Our dogs had a blast running around the site. Road is a bit bumpy getting in. Definitely arrive during daytime as you could miss the entrance. Because it is in the open, it can get a bit windy. Would definitely recommend this stay if you're looking for off grid seclusion.

We originally booked Pond Meadow #1 but when we got there, we wanted to switch to another site and the host was so gracious and let us take our pick of available sites. He was so nice and even let us buy some firewood from him since we missed the stop on the way to the campground. We ended up staying on site #5, which was perfect for us! It was nice and flat, plenty of room to pitch our 6-person tent. There was a fire pit at each campsite, multiple toilets, and paddle boards available for use. The different campsites are somewhat close together, so if there are large groups around you, it can get kind of noisy. Word of advice, we came from the direction of Netherland and I don't recommend coming this way unless you are in an off roading vehicle. There was about 5 miles leading to the campground that was not maintained and pretty rough. I'm actually surprised our minivan was able to make it. I recommend coming from the Golden direction, the roads were much better that way. Otherwise, the campsite was great! Very secluded and beautiful. Would definitely stay again.

The views from the spot were fantastic, and I was really impressed with how attentive and proactive the host was - from texting and driving us up to being there again when we left. It’s rare to have a host physically present both on arrival and departure, and it made the stay feel extra cared for. The tent is in good repair and tall enough to stand in comfortably and we appreciated many of the extras like woodstove and drinking water. My daughter especially loved seeing the animals and getting to take a donkey ride, which was a highlight of the trip.

It was really nice to roll up and not have to set up a tent. Loved the charcoal grill, and the seats - great vibes. Was also one of the most private sites while still an easy walk to clean and sanitary porta potties. Highly recommend, we’ll for sure be going back.
