Jake Stephens Performance Horses is a working horse ranch. It's located in Glade Park, Colorado, which you have to travel through the Colorado National Monument and a Red Rock Tunnel to get to. The 70-acre ranch is located in the middle of the funnest and most beautiful places on the planet. Activities include horseback riding through the mountains, canoeing on one of the reservoirs, mountain biking one of the numerous trails, hiking to see some of the most awesome wildlife anywhere, or just camping in one of the cabins or tent camping on the side of a beautiful Red Rock canyon. The Ute Lodge was homesteaded in the 1930’s by Joe Fox who after leaving the military came west to settle in the White River valley. Joe was known for his friendliness, hospitality and wild stories. Today you might find much of the same. From Joe’s day to today it is a place where families come together to get away. The Ute Lodge is now owned by Karl and Mona Maser who celebrated 20 years of ownership summer of 2019! All summer our cabins are filled with guests from all over the US as well as international travelers. One of our favorite things about the summer is our weekly potlucks where we all share an outdoor meal. All of our visitors have a standing invitation to join us around the community campfire at night. From our beautiful private lake (where you can paddle-board, kayak and fish), to immediate access to the Papoose and Crooks Park Trails on National Forest land, as well as the vast variety of wildlife that roams around, you can find what you need here to unplug and get away from it all.

My family and I built up this peice of property in the summer of 2016, we purchased it as land only and have done everything you will find here today! My husband and I built the barn and all structures! The house was the last thing to get finished, we moved in March of 2020. We raise Cattle and Bernedoodle dogs. And also enjoy training horses and competing with the Mustang Heritage Foundation. If you walk around you will see many American Mustangs! We hope you enjoy the fantastic views and the peaceful surroundings as we do!!

Such a beautiful, quiet property. An even more beautiful sheepwagon! Such a cool idea. Shannon has made it so extremely comforting inside, and I was so warm with the heater and all of the cozy bedding. Such sweet animals - including a cat to keep me company each time I used the bathroom in the barn haha. Thank you so much for opening up your space, coming from Pennsylvania, this was a great visual opportunity for me to gain inspiration in the life I feel called to.

The property was extremely beautiful and Shannon was very kind, friendly and accommodating. The wagon was charming and the decor was very inviting. There was even a friendly farm cat that came and said hello to us! The trip felt magical overall. Wonderful hosts, wonderful scenery, and very welcoming.

What a beautiful area of the country. It was a lot of fun to spend a little time here with my dog who loves cows, and got to hang out with the chickens and horses at the ranch. Shannon was super friendly and accommodating. We had a lovely time and wow, the sunset was amazing!

Jenny and Jake were so very welcoming to my two children and me. Jenny took us on a trail ride we all loved! My children enjoyed visiting with the animals and helping with some ranch chores. The cabin Jake built is magical - so very unique with all the added touches. There’s room for a couple families to sleep in it so we will be back with our friends! Thank you, Jenny and Jake.

Weekend Trip to Stephens Ranch

The warmest welcome I’ve ever gotten at a Hipcamp! My son and I were on night 9 of a 10 day trip and exhausted, and it was so great to have such a comfortable and warm place to stay. The cabin itself is so unique, and you can see how much love went into building it. It My kiddo loved playing with and meeting the animals. Only wish we could’ve stayed longer!

3 nights at Tomichi Creek Trading Post

Man! Brigette was very welcoming, clear on guidelines, and my stay was amazing! They provided just enough for me; bed, heater(freezing temps), and restrooms with showers! I stayed in Cabin 3. Had my own cooking equipment, firewood, sleeping bag, and portable fridge. Nights inside the cabin were peaceful, serene, and relaxing. the mornings and afternoon felt great! I wasn't there for the weekend which is when the kitchen and bar is open, but their store had everything you'd need for a remote stay. WILL SURELY LOVE TO BE BACK!!

Last minute getaway from Denver. I was able to book the day off and everything went smoothly. About an hour drive from Denver. Very cute wagon with lots of animals on the property! Enjoyed my day!
