Relax and retreat on a sandstone mesa, where nobody will find you at this extraordinary get away. Our 1954 vintage retro-tiny-house-on-wheels, furnished patio, and a shady gazebo offer an unforgettable highlight of your travels. Please read entire listing and rules. No smoking, no pets, no children, guests must have a car of their own or a rental car.  No open fires of any kind: grills, candles etc. Michael and Julia bought their property in Chatsworth Lake Manor in 2011. They remodeled their home into a Poquito Hacienda. In 2016 they bought "Gypsy" the 1954 Spartan Manor trailer and brought her from New Orleans. It took 3 years to create the special hideaway. Michael and Julia are both self employed and they have 2 large dogs, Bella and Loki who live with them in their home right near the hideaway. They love gourmet cooking, travel, hiking and sailing. A custom daybed, dining area and library are in the forward "observation lounge". Outfitted for private, luxurious relaxation the Tiny Tiki Retro Hideaway large cliff-top patio has 2 chaises, 2 armchairs, a loveseat and dining table. Take a nap, enjoy cocktails, tea, coffee or dinner al fresco. The gazebo, with an outdoor double bed is available May 1st to November 1st, or until the rains arrive, then it is tarped. Living spaces are fully electric and have A/C. 1 small bathroom only. Due to extreme fire hazard, no smoking allowed ANYWHERE in our tinder surrounded neighborhood. Excellent wifi wireless reception provided, 8mb up, 4 mb down, which may not be what you are expecting or what you are accustomed to. Smart 24" TV. Due to no phone land-line we are somewhat off-grid. The 1 1/2 mile gated driveway is a steep old paved road. Not recommended for road sissies. Gate code access provided. All seen only here for our guests delight, Tiny Tiki Retro Hideaway is furnished with one of a kind designer textiles and ceramics, real 1950's decor, and many irreplaceable custom items sourced from recycled, reclaimed and repurposed materials. (75" x 54" ) Cozy living quarters and 'character' are part of the experience, like a Tiny House. Nearby: In historic Chatsworth town restaurants, bars and shopping are 3 miles drive away. Downtown Los Angeles and Hollywood are 27 miles away. Disneyland is 65 miles away, Universal City 26 miles, and Malibu beaches are 24 miles away; timing is all depending on traffic. Stoney Point world class rock climbing is 15 minutes, Magic Mountain 6 Flags and the Reagan Library are 1/2 hour away. IMPORTANT: If you choose this location you must drive a car of your own or a rental. No Ubering. No deliveries. PLEASE NOTE GOOGLE MAPS does NOT get YOU to our property! We need to meet you 1 mile away, so you can follow us up here the 1st time.. There are 6 local watch dogs: 50 yards our Bella and Loki, 100 yards 1 dog, 300 yards 1 other dog; all are fenced in. We are in a pristine wildlife corridor and there are numerous wild animals all around, including rabbits, squirrels, lizards, coyotes and others. ** No Infants, No Kids, No Pets: Children over age 10 only and they must be pre-approved by host prior to booking.     absolutely gorgeous. it was so nice out i was able to sleep outside under the stars in the very comfortable bed!! everything about this spot was breathtaking, so so grateful for the experience!!

    A magical retreat
    From the moment we arrived at Julia’s Retro Tiki Hideaway, we knew we were in for a special experience. Julia, our host, has meticulously restored a Spartan to create a cozy and comfortable retreat. It’s evident in every corner of the hideaway that she has poured immense time and love into its design. The space is not just aesthetically pleasing but also practical, allowing us to bring and cook our own food, adding to the homely feel. The array of books available was a treat for us, especially finding a Kurt Vonnegut novel by the bedside and viewing the retro decorations – it’s these thoughtful touches that set Julia’s place apart. The overall energy and vibe of the hideaway are incredibly healing, allowing my partnerand me to disconnect from our stresses and reconnect with each other in a meaningful way. Julia’s husband kindly lent us a guitar for the weekend, a gesture that was greatly appreciated, especially since Ray had forgotten to bring his. Our experience was further enhanced by the scenic hike Julia took us on. The trail was not only beautiful but held delightful surprises – though I’ll leave those for future visitors to discover themselves. Accompanying us was Ki-too, Julia’s gorgeous dog, who was an excellent guide and added joy to our adventure. The outdoor hot tub was another highlight. Perfectly sheltered from the winds, it provided a serene spot to relax and soak in the natural beauty. Highly recommend this place!

    Fantastic getaway
    My partner and I had a wonderful few days decompressing here. The vintage was very novel and can add some fun novelty that is a really unique glamping experience. You can tell Julia really cares a lot about the space and put a lot of love into the space with so many nice, thoughtful touches. She went out of her way to make sure we were comfortable from meeting us in town to follow in, providing kitchen supplies, to educating us about the history of the space and we were too tired to take her up on it but even offered to take us on a guided hike! I would easily stay here again, my partner is fairly tall and had a bit of a hard time navigating but really loved the space a lot. The view was out of the world too!

    Beautiful views and well designed!
    The hosts Julia and Michael were so hospital and welcoming! When we arrived, Michael gave us a tour of the hideaway and shared it's history. The hideaway is so beautiful and romantic with amazing views and great outdoor furniture for lounging and relaxing! My finance and I LOVED the weekend here! Everything was so well designed and thought out. The place is really clean and well taken care of. I highly recommend this place for a spurge or special occasions - definitely a treat!

    Great Time at the Tiki Hideaway
    My wife and I so much enjoyed our time at the Tiki Hideaway. The view from the Hideaway and its private large patio is stunning. We watched distant planes pass through the clouds as they took off and landed at LAX. The Santa Monica mountains are in the background and a large open valley lies before you. The trailer is lovingly decorated, down to the pounded-aluminum basin in the bathroom. And Julia was nearby in case we needed anything. She was wonderful to talk with about the history of the area and its geology. Recommended!

    Went above and BEYOND expectations!
    Our stay here was sensational! Not only was the view even better than pictured, it was decorated beautifully. The outdoor bed was amazing for watching the stars and overlooking the city. The host was beyond nice and extra informative about the property. Do yourself a favor and book your stay here, YOU WILL BE SO HAPPY YOU DID!
