Wave Rock Short Stay

The Silos is located 2 km from the Hyden town site and 2 km from Wave Rock. Both locations are easily accessible by car or by using the walking/cycling trail. To access the walking trail please head back to Aylmore Road, turn right and when you reach the intersection cross the highway to meet the walking/cycling trail. Left will take you to town and right to Wave Rock. Please be mindful that our property neighbours a working sheep and cropping farm. Wave Rock is a granite cliff 15 metres high and 110 metres long. It’s rounded-like shape has been caused by weathering and water erosion which has undercut the base and left a rounded overhang. Water from the springs running down the rock during wetter months dissolves minerals adding to the colouring of the wave. In 1960, crystals from Hyden Rock were dated at being 2700 million years old, which are amongst the oldest in Australia. A 15 minute drive north of Wave Rock you will see a “giant” lurching out of the bushland. This massive granite rock formation is known as the Humps – grab your hat, sun screen and water bottle and explore! Be sure to visit Mulka's Cave. The name “Mulka” comes from an Aboriginal Legend associated with the cave. As you enter the cave (take a few moments for your eyes to adjust) and look at the walls and note the many hand stencils believed to representing adults and children. Close to Lake Magic, a large local salt lake, Denis Collins constructed a 20m round, 6m deep swimming pool-like gypsum pond whose buoyancy and therapeutic properties are greater than those of the Dead Sea.

We have a number of unpowered camp sites located approximately 5 minutes drive from Augusta, which offers a number of tourist attractions and great fishing spots. We are also located a short 800m from Jewel Cave, which is a very popular tourist attraction and café. Our campsites overlook paddocks of cows and horses, with a lovely breeze and a number of large trees to offer shade in the summer, while being protected from the harsh winds in winter. If you are pretty much self contained and would like to camp out away from the hustle and bustle, in a tranquil and peaceful setting...then this is for you. However, if you like life's luxuries, then this won't be your cup of tea. One of the reviews said nice but a bit wild, I think they must be used to caravan parks or something. We try our best to fit in with the environment, so we have a couple of compost toilets and solar showers (for private not public use, for more info on this, please enquire ) and compost and recycling bins to try and do our bit. Dogs are permitted but this is a working farm with livestock so uncontrolled dogs chasing wildlife or stock which cant be controlled will be dealt with as needed including euthanised. If its hard to control don't bring it please!

We are surrounded by other small holdings with farm animals including chickens (and roosters), sheep, horses and cows. We also have lots of wildlife including Kangaroo's, Ducks, Ibis, Black Cockatoos and many other birds frequenting or passing through. We back onto Gavins Gully which is an idyllic creek running through ex-farm land. The creek is a great place to spend time with your children making boats from sticks and leaves and watching them sail away. Or maybe enjoy a picnic by the creek and just relax in the tranquility. There's plenty of happy memories to be made! We get lovely sunsets and if you are up early enough, beautiful sunrises. The evenings are always stunning with dappled light coming through the trees! It is magical and our favourite time of the day when everything is cooling down in summer. Enjoy taking an evening walk by the creek and along the bridal trail or just sitting back and enjoying the sounds of nature with some nibbles and drinks. Make sure to look up at night and soak it all in. Listening to the wind rustling in the trees is one of our favourite sounds and the kookaburras calling in the morning and evenings. We also love to watch and listen to all the different bird callings - you may hear a Boobook owl calling to a mate! We are centrally located to loads of attractions! If you do have your own though, there is a dumpsite located in Dardanup (5 minutes away) at the information bay by the railway line and little church. We provide running bore water by tap and an outdoor kitchen sink by our back fence where you will be camping (cold water only). The water is safe to drink and wash dishes in. There’s a rustic outdoor shower with 2 options. A "rain storm" cold shower (great in summer when the water isn't cold) or a nice gentle hot shower. :) PLEASE KEEP SHOWERS TO 10 MINUTES. Checkout our extras for power and firewood! Please note we live here too so you will see us around and our house can be seen from your campsite. Our kids are free spirited and love coming to say hello! Being ex-farm land, it's generally an open environment, but we don't have neighbours too close by (100m+). We ask that campers don't make lots of noise after sunset and please avoid shining torches towards our home or our neighbours. NOTE: The camp area is in full view of our home, but we try to respect your privacy. Our Toobs are repurposed 2.1m diameter by 2.4m deep concrete pipes with one way glass, a queen size bed, 2 small bedside tables, light, power points, electric blanket(winter), pedestal fan (summer)all linen, towel and curtains for privacy. Internal volume is just over 9m3. They've been called glamping pods, concrete tents, micro habitats, sleep stations. . . .but at heart, they're an immersive experience. How they look, where they are, the way you sleep and where you wake up is an altogether novel experience that we feel most people will enjoy. Toobs are serviced by a shared safari-style wash house with hot water shower and composting loo. Our block is on the Rails to Trails beside the Margaret River. Main Street and cafe strip are a short 10 minute forest walk away. We are popular with mountain bikers due to our close proximity (ride to trails) MR's MTB trails. Surfer's Point and Prevelly are 9kms away. We have chickens, horses, veggie gardens and are pet friendly. Just to be clear, we encourage our guests to eat out and we do NOT have kitchen / cooking facilities. Something Different is a large machinery shed that has been converted into a comfortable holiday house with three bedrooms and one bathroom (extra toilet outside) and huge living spaces. You can really kick back here and relax! The walls and ceilings have been extensively insulated. There is a wood heater in the kitchen and another one in the main part of the Shed so it can be kept nice and cosy despite its size! You can drive your car/van inside the shed if you wish or park it under any of the many surrounding trees. The Shed sleeps 10 in total (base price covers all 10), with 1 queen and 1 single bed in one room, 1 dbl bed and 2 single beds in another room, and 1 queen bed and 1 single bed in a third room. All linen, towels, etc. are provided. If you have more people, they are welcome to pitch a tent or park their caravan on the grounds around the shed. Stay on a working small mixed farm just out of Tammin, where sustainability is a priority and the environment is valued. For this reason, we only allow a very limited number of visitors at any one time. We're waiting for our first rains in March/April so that our world goes green again! We're not far from town, so you can bring your tennis racquets and have a free hit on the hardcourts (even at night), or bring your bikes, especially the kids so they can ride around on farm tracks. Plus there are wonderful playgrounds in nearby Cunderdin and Kellerberrin. Tammin is central to almost everything in the Wheatbelt and this year there are some great events happening nearby. Checkout the Central Wheatbelt Visitor Centre for a rundown of what is on where. The Wheatbelt is now well serviced with RV dumps (closest 10kms) and EV Charging at Northam and Merredin. The A Class Charles Gardner Reserve is just up the road and you can always find something special flowering throughout the year. In August and September the wildflowers are out and it's especially beautiful. We have a small fish farm on-site so you can arrange a tour, or if available, fresh fish for dinner. Currently we don't have any available but you can ask Fred about his Metal workshop and see some of his artwork around the property. We have sheep and guard alpacas. If you want to meet them or the alpacas up close and personal (across the fence). Let us know and we'll arrange it! *** We also have a small mob of Red PollxDexter cattle. They live behind the only Electric fence on the property. We'll remind you about it when we greet you. This year the Merino ewes that we breed for wool will start lambing from around May 7th. Around this time, we don't usually allow any dogs to visit. If you are thinking of bringing your dog at any time please check with us first. ***We love our animals and so we need to be vigilant with Biosecurity. Please ensure any clothing or footwear you have with you has been thoroughly cleaned and is free from any soil or manure. Unfortunately you cannot visit if you have been outside Australia in the past 7 days.

It's an easily accessible and picturesque private property with approximately 7 acres of forest, flushing toilet, hot outdoor shower, a winter creek, a swimmable spring-fed dam, and an abundance of bird and wildlife, nestled between cattle farms in the heart of the Peel region. There are friendly free-ranging chickens, a mischievous mini pig named Peppa (who loves pats), sheep, and a family dog on site. The owners Michelle, Troy, and Carolyne live and work onsite (this is a working farm). THIS IS NOT A PLACE TO BOOK IF YOU INTEND TO PARTY. The camping area is easily accessed by most vehicles. There is a hot water outdoor shower and toilet available to use and within walking distance of each site. The dam on the property is currently unfenced and has steep sides when the water line is low, therefore this property is not recommended for those with small and wandering children. Older children will need to be supervised. Friendly dogs are welcome, however, must be kept on a leash at all times. There are no cooking facilities available for guests at present (this could change in the next couple of months as Troy is notorious for making stuff happen lol... so when it does we'll update the information). Therefore you will need to be completely self-sufficient including washing up bucket, cooker, kettle, esky, etc, and also bringing your own drinking water as the water from the taps comes from our spring-fed dam. We do ask that you follow local fire regulations with no outdoor open flames during fire bans. All rubbish and waste needs to be taken with you. However, Peppa the Pig will always appreciate your veggie scraps. Fires are permitted in designated fire pits during fire season. Anyone found having a fire during FIRE BANS will be reported to authorities and asked to leave the property immediately (we need to use firm words around this, as bushfire destroys homes and endangers lives).
