The Landing at Index WA

Welcome to The Landing at Index - located on the South Fork Skykomish River, in the western foothills of the Cascade Mountains, off of Highway 2. With 16 acres of beautiful, private woods and breathtaking views of Mt. Index, this is a wonderful getaway to kick back and relax after your day of adventures, or just to escape the city rush.

The campsites are at the bottom of a long logging road so an SUV or AWD vehicle are preferable , especially during the wetter seasons.

When the property was logged approximately 100 years ago they scooped out gravel from the river to make their roads in the area thus creating the back eddy pool along the beach. 

A rather peaceful setting, including the rushing sound of the river and the occasional whistle of a train. You will feel refreshed and rejuvenated after you stay at The Landing.

Pets are welcome, there are outhouses at each campsite. Campfires are allowed (when burn bans are not in place).

If you pitch your tent down on the landing you can see the sunset looking north over a mellow eddy in the river.

We couldn't get enough of the swimming hole at the Landing!

Being able to pitch your tent in so many spots was an awesome advantage of staying on 16 private acres!

It's hard to beat a Washington summer on the Skykomish River!

As the sun rises you can see Mt Index slowly begin to light up!

This is the fork just after leaving the highway. Take a right and begin heading down the hill. The left runs along the side of the train tracks.

The Skykomish River was clear and warm and perfect for a summer dip!

The Cascades were a beautiful backdrop to the Landing.

Seven Lakes Campground

A private lake front camp site nestled in the 7 Lakes area.  Swimming, fishing, and boating off your shore line.  Don't forget to make use of the fire pit on your visit.  Far enough out to feel like an escape, but not far for a quick over night stay.  Whether your bringing your RV or trailer, or just pitching a tent, your sure to enjoy your stay.

Welcome to Seven Lakes Campground.  Private, lake front campsite sits on the first of the Seven Lakes. 50 amp power hook up(as well as standard outlet) and water hook up are waiting for your trailer or RV. No shower facilities on site, how ever there is a port-a potty. Camp sure sits on a shy half acre in quiet Lake Loma. Bring your non power boat (electric trolling motors ok) , kayak, canoe, paddle board, or paddle boat, and launch from your camp site into the peaceful lake. Enjoy fishing, swimming, or just a quiet ride in the lake. Camp site includes new floating dock, as well as a fire pit.

Happy Little Farm

Almost 20 years ago, Shelley and Casey moved back to the beautiful Skagit Valley farm Shelley grew up on.   Her family has farmed in the valley for five generations.  Casey had studied permaculture in the San Juan Islands and they immediately began planting edible and useful plants throughout the property.  They started a small Community Supported Agriculture program growing vegetables and fruit for several families.  The property has evolved over time to include several living willow structures and a wonderful collection of unusual fruits creating what they hope is the feeling of a Wonderland.

New Van Camping Site in 2023:  We have a new gravel pad van site next to an 18 acre farm field with a wonderful sunset view.   We do not allow fires at the site.  But you would be welcome to have a campfire in our firepit a short walk from your van site.  Please note, we are not currently offering firewood.  But it is available at the Shell station less than 5 minutes from our farm.

Tent Site:  Pitch your tent in a private corner of our little organic farm in the beautiful Skagit Valley.  You will be surrounded by gorgeous edible landscaping and a stunning view of Mount Baker.  Take a stroll through our gardens, graze on some fruit in season.  A 10 minute walk or quick bike ride to the Skagit River offering great swimming in the warmer months.

Our farm is surrounded by many flat scenic farm roads very popular for cyclists and photographers.  There are two restaurants and several antique shops less than a mile away in the cute little town of Conway.  The Conway Muse is a funky music venue and restaurant hosting great live music on weekends throughout the year.

Feel free to pick organic fruits, vegetables and nuts to enjoy at your campsite or take home by donation.

Hawthorn Farm

We transform suburbia in a delicious piece of permaculture with the help of an amazing "farmily."

 As one visitor mentioned, "this place is like a cultural exchange program without leaving the country!"

As devoted homesteaders, we have friends of all ages helping on the farm, and a lot of friendly animals from goats to ducks to ponies.

Pitch your tent in our beloved forest and stroll the trails through our four acres of woods or on nearby state trails.

 Say hello to the goats, chickens, ponies, and rabbits.

Outdoor sink and shower have hot and cold water.

 Enjoy our living, breathing forest.

 Our beautiful yurt means that you can sleep on benches around the campfire and never have to pack up a wet tent.

You'll have access to a toilet, shower, and potable water.

Treehouse Place at Deer Ridge!

We can't wait for you to experience this tiny house in the woods. Check back weekly to see our progress photos! We call this a treehouse but it's technically supported by posts (nicer to the trees). There is a fullsize high end queen memory foam bed on the upper floor. Yes, this is a 2 story treehouse! On the second floor there is also a children's sleeping loft which overlooks the rest of the bedroom. This loft is suitable for a small child or 2 but headroom is only a few feet. We found it also requires some youthfull agility to get up there.

A beautiful knotty alder slidding barn door leads from the bedroom to a private bathroom with pedestal sink and odorless composting toilet.

There is a small kitchen with a coffee maker, mini fridge, induction cooktop, mini crockpot, and enough dishes and glasses to enjoy a simple meal or drink. Water pressure in the kitchen and throughout is good!

There is a soaking tub on the main floor near the fireplace and TV with free Netflix. This luxury tub is sure to be a favorite amongst guests. I designed a non traditional floor plan knowing that this would be used primarily as a couples retreat. You can literally be soaking in the tub and watching TV by the fire while your significant other is preparing a meal in the kitchen all in the same space. We find the layout very romantic and unlike anything else out there.

There is also a large hot tub avalible for our guests near the main house. You are welcome to use this hot tub anytime if you don't mind it being by the main home.

Free Wifi. No cable TV but we supply Netflix on the hi-speed guest network. Guests will have free parking in our large circular driveway suitable for cars, trucks, or even RVs under 31ft.
