Check out the Scandinavian scene on an RV road trip through his cozy Washington town.
On the northern banks of Liberty Bay in Washington's Puget Sound region, the compact community of Poulsbo draws in RV roadtrippers with its Norwegian vibes. Although Suquamish people called the area home for thousands of years, a wave of Scandinavian immigrants came to the area in the 1880s, bringing with them cultural elements that the town retains to this day. It's also a good base or stopover point for exploring the Olympic Peninsula, with a few great spots to park your RV for the night. Options nearby include Kitsap Memorial State Park—an oceanfront park with a mix of standard, partial-hookup, and full-hookup sites just north of the town center—and Illahee State Park, a half-hour drive south. There are also plenty of nearby Hipcamps to choose from, ideal for anyone looking for a quieter alternative to traditional state park campgrounds, perhaps with picnic tables, dump station access, and hot showers.
