Nestled near Arlington, our 75-acre property spans both new and old forest, featuring a salmon-filled creek and a vibrant beaver pond—all set against the dramatic backdrop of a 1,200-foot sheer cliff crowned with old-growth trees. Since its purchase in 1958 as a family retreat, this land has grown into much more than a getaway. It has become a place for relaxation, adventure, and connection with nature—a private forest for family and friends to enjoy. Over the years, the family has embraced forest stewardship and sustainable timber harvesting, while also creating campsites, trails, hosting rock concerts, and even making wine. What began as a simple escape has evolved into something extraordinary: a tree farm that successfully balances nearly every goal a forest landowner could imagine—timber production, wildlife habitat, natural beauty, recreation, and forest resilience. Valhalla embodies all of this with a harmony so seamless, it feels effortless.
The campsite offers a warm and welcoming experience, with hosts Shannon and Dave receiving high praise for their hospitality. Campers appreciate the cozy and secluded environment, making it an ideal spot for a peaceful getaway. The natural surroundings, including trails, ponds, and wildlife, add to the charm, providing ample opportunities for exploration. However, some visitors note the need for all-wheel drive vehicles, especially in snowy conditions.
We stayed at the cabin and additional tent site and had a wonderful time. The scenery here seems like something out of someone’s imagination. It rained quite a bit during our stay but we still had a wonderful time. The forest was so pretty and the sun would hit the nearby mountain at certain points during the day and it appeared as if nature was lighting it up! We loved it here and will definitely be returning in the future!
We had such a great time the first time we stayed in the A Frame, that we booked it again. Our girls trip was perfect. The sleeping pads are plenty comfy, and the view is stunning. We brought our own water, but the kitchen had pots and pans already. My friend drove her minivan up the hill, which I was a little surprised, but she made it. I don't recommend it though. 4WD is best.
Thank You again Shannon for another great stay.
We had a wonderful cozy stay on Shannon’s land. We chose the A-frame cottage and it was just the thing for a winter vacation. The wood stove kept us warm, the sleeping loft was comfortable, the view was amazing. Plus, there were lots of walking trails and other natural features to enjoy around the property like a pond, a creek with signs of salmon life, view of a waterfall, and even the chirping of frogs and eagles flying nearby.
