Weekend Trip to Rhoda's Joy

Rhoda's camping area was green, shady and quiet. She was very kind to us when we had a problem with our RV. By using Hipcamp's directions instead of relying on Google maps we found our campsite with no problem. The compostable toilet was clean and not smelly at all.

Weekend Trip to Homestead By Estacada Lake

What a fun little place! The campsite was spacious with a great campfire set up, a nice picnic bench and the toilet was so clean and easy to use. We took a couple of young kids and it was great to be able to have the space to ourselves so they could be kids and have fun. We added the duck eggs and the animal meet and feed and we all had so much fun! The goats were so friendly, the chickens were friendly, and the geese and ducks were so cool to be close to! We’ve definitely will be back. Karissa was very sweet and took time to make sure that we were comfortable, had what we needed, and answered all of our questions about the animals.

1 night at Marmot House Old Growth Forest

If you're looking for an experience in a remote forest which is also near civilization (and not far from breathtaking views of Mt. Hood), and a place which feels wild yet cozy, look no further! I had a very enjoyable stay, the hosts were welcoming, and it was quiet & peaceful. If you need a ton of elbow room for your vehicle, it might feel a bit on the cramped side, but for my car it was no problem. I hope to stay again soon!

My girlfriend and I had a really nice stay at Rhoda’s Joy. The setting is peaceful and surrounded by nature, making it a great spot to unwind. The space was well-maintained and had everything we needed for a comfortable night. We enjoyed the quiet atmosphere and appreciated the thoughtful touches throughout the site. The hosts were friendly and made sure we had what we needed. Overall, a great option if you’re looking for a relaxing getaway.

I loved staying here specifically for the sauna and cold plunge!!! The cold plunge is a park of the creek that is sectioned off into the perfect place to plunge. The tent was warm and the bedd were comfy. there are restaurants a 5 min drive away which is a huge plus!

Weekend Trip to Secluded Creekside Camp

Chris’ and his grandson were so nice and made us feel really welcome. The land was so nice and I would not hesitate to rent it again (hopefully this summer). Not only was the grassy area lovely, the firepit was huge (grand scale size). There are lights strung up in the shelter as long as you have a generator (or in our case, a portable battery) to plug into. The covered patio area is perfect and since we knew it would rain, we were able to easily move two of the tables and set our tent up underneath the shelter to keep us dry. It was very cold last night, but nothing a few inches of wool blankets can’t handle and the shelter took care of keeping us dry. The land is right next to a small beautiful river so between the sound of the river and the rain, we were asleep in no time. The portable toilet was very clean and stocked with hand sanitizer and supplies. We were used to taking care of our own trash and packing it out but be aware and bring supplies if you need. Thank you for sharing such a beautiful gem. Side Note: Dog owners: This place is well taken care of and we didn’t come across any dog poo and took care of our own dog’s messes. Please be aware and do the same so we can all enjoy this lovely place.

2 nights at Secluded Creekside Camp

Our family really enjoyed our stay! We knew we needed a covered area since rain was in the forecast and this spot was perfect. Plenty of space for our tent (plus more if you need), the creek was not too loud and very soothing, also not especially deep if you have younger children. Huge fire pit! Very quiet! The area is flat and clean. There’s a charcoal grill and propane fueled fire pit in the covered area (propane not provided). Plenty of table space and the porta potty was very clean. I would recommend this area for families. As rookie campers we felt very comfortable here! We’ll be back 😊.

2 nights at Waterwheel Park

Private feeling spot in the woods. As people mentioned, the privy is a nice setup. You are next to 2 roads but traffic is very very light. It rained most of my visit but the many tall trees made it better.

3 nights at Rivers Ridge

We had such a wonderful, relaxing time on our visit. The description of the site doesn't do it justice. Robert was so friendly and accommodating. The setting was so peaceful and the view was outstanding. We will definitely be returning. Thank you!

1 night at Marmot House Old Growth Forest

Welcome to Marmot House. Tucked back in a patch of old-growth forest, the campsite I stayed at was near the communal fire gathering area, which I took advantage of. I arrived on my motorcycle, and Jim and Arehen were incredibly accommodating, making sure I had everything I needed. I spent too much time riding around on the mountain to explore the Marmot House as much as I would have liked. Good excuse for a return trip

1 night at Lefever Holbrook Ranch

Extraordinary views and delicious produce! This was a really special place to camp, enjoy the night sky and the expanse of the Washington landscape. Paulette was an amazing host and shared much about the ranch and its workings on the farm tour. Plus amazing pickles and meat from the farm store!

1 night at Action Sports Roamer Sites

What a fantastic place to stay. We were greeted at the gate by Noah, who gave us all the information we needed to have a comfortable stay. (Including where we would find an excellent dinner, just a few minutes down the road.) The tent was clean, spacious, and comfortable. Restroom and shower were a very short walk. Plenty of parking and dog friendly. The other guests were quiet and respectful. Absolutely recommend this place to others.

I loved staying here! It was dark and wet when we arrived and they let us stay at their Huckleberry Cabin. They built it themselves, it was so nice and comfortable. Next time I pass through, I know where I’ll be staying!

Weekend Trip to Secluded Creekside Camp

Chris’s site was amazing! I loved having the creek next to site, and hearing it while I slept. The covered area and propane fireplace provided a great place to hang out during intermittent rain. We were lucky to have no rain for a day and enjoyed the large fire pit. Chris and their family were great hosts and extremely friendly! I would recommend this site to any large group or individuals looking for a relaxing place to enjoy the nature.

5 nights at Rivers Ridge

Aside from the mind-blowing view and unmatched solitude, you have to drive by the notoriously best-of-Oregon hikes, "Coyote Wall", to even arrive at this Hipcamp. The treehouse offers a memorable sleep on a summer's night, and a memorable view and respite the rest of the year. My 9 year-old loved climbing to the top level to read in the hammock during our trip. The electric hook-up is compatible with a standard RV one. We have a 30 foot setup and to get it in there, we pull left and back up. It can be done, it just takes strategy. Anyways, I *effing* love this place, I have been here twice, I would recommend it to anyone who likes places with a view, who likes Hood River, who has an RV needing electricity and water but no sewage. The bathroom is in a part of the host's land that's under construction. That's ok because we have our own thing. Anyways, I love this place and me and my 9 year-old son will be back. Amenities: small wood fire pit (but fire bans will often be in effect for safety), RV-friendly electric hookup, in structure toilet, no shower, tree house with burner and small refrigerator, potable water, mattress with mosquito net in treehouse, water hookup (not sure if it's potable because we stuck to our own) , easy access to Hood River (via toll bridge) and Coyote Wall.

Hood/Gorge +. Note: Our driveway entry is steep, but navigable. We limit the trailer/RV length to 27' in order to avoid bottoming out. Novice trailer drivers may want to avoid. For quick bearings if you are booking while on the road, we are located just off 26 (Powell), 5 miles from I-205 or 11 miles from I-5 via the Ross Island Bridge. If you are traveling along I-84, we are 4 miles south from the exit.

Rhoda's Joy

This property was once part of a 200 acre cattle ranch turned into a Christian community. The families shared meals, home-schooled their children and had a home-based church. They raised their own food in a 3 acre garden and orchard along with chickens and cows for milk, meet and eggs. Two of the original families still own some of the acres although the community was dissolved and much of the property sold to other people. Learn more about this land: We love sharing our beautiful land with those that love nature. The sunsets, the peace and the birdsong are the best. Pets are welcome and you can walk through the forest with them on dirt pathways or keep them in your campsite. Please keep pets out of our area, as our dog is very protective and has been known to have scuffles with other animals approaching. Grassy areas are available to set up tents or have picnics. There are firepits for when the burn ban is not on (a wheelbarrow full of wood for $5). The campsites are large and spaced quite far from each other. Please stay on gravel roadways with all motor vehicles. There are two outhouses for tents campers. There is one non-potable water spigot by the log outhouse. There is no electricity on the property. For your own safety and peace of mind, please keep all food in bear safe containers or locked in your cars. If you forget anything, the Washougal River Mercantile is two miles away where you can buy gas and groceries. Local hiking trails on the Columbia Gorge: Cape Horn Trail just 3 miles from our property and Beacon Rock/Hamilton Mountain trail is a 15 minute drive. We can give you directions to our favorite swimming hole for cooling down on hot summer days in the Washougal river. (Discovery Pass required at the river) parking spot. Take a dip in Cedar Creek, sit and read by one of the ponds, get your heart pumping on the hilly trails on the north side of the property, pick as many blackberries as you can find if in season. We can't wait to host you! NON-NEGOTIABLE RULES: PACK IN PACK OUT: We do not have trash or recycling bins down in the creekside campground so please keep your waste contained and take it with you when you leave. Please do not throw any trash in the porta-potties. 4WD/AWD REQUIRED PAST THE BARN: The steep gravel roads can be tough for some cars and rigs (particularly on the way out) and consequently, can cause a lot of damage to our roads. So for everyone's safety, we have restricted access to only vehicles with 4WD or AWD only. Please do not message us asking us to advise on the vehicle you have. If someone in your party has a 2WD vehicle, they can park up in the entry lot and get shuttled down to the campsites in a 4WD vehicle. If we see a 2WD vehicle in the campground, we will ask you to leave and if we have to dig you out, we will charge a $200 fee. Thank you for respecting our policies and helping us maintain our space. DOG FRIENDLY: We are as dog friendly as it gets here. Unleashed dogs are allowed on this property down by the creek (on-leash required in and around the barn). If you have a fear of dogs, or have dogs that are not friendly with other people or fellow dogs, this probably isn't the right campground for you. Of course, we expect all dog owners to keep an eye on their pets so they don't disturb other campers or ingest anything they're not supposed to. QUIET HOURS: 10pm-9am. We ask that guests keep the noise (loud music and loud conversations) to a minimum between 10pm and 9am. We live onsite and will enforce these if we have to (please don't make us). NO FIREARMS, FIREWORKS OR ILLEGAL SUBSTANCE USE. This is not a late night party campsite. This property is best enjoyed in the daylight and we encourage campers who want to take full advantage of the scenery, will abide by the quiet hours, and maintain a safe space for all. OTHER INFO: CELL SERVICE: There is an AT&T tower on our property so that gets the best service by far. Verizon is pretty good. T-mobile does not get reception here. There is high-speed internet up at the barn that is accessible with a Blue Barn Pass.

Olson Vista

It will be an experience you won't forget, You will take in the unforgettable views at sunrise and sunset of Mt. Adams, Mt. Rainier, Swale Canyon, and wind turbines on the east horizon. The property is perched on the north side of Stacker Butte at 2,200 ft. elevation and includes a large homesite that is carved out of the side of the mountain which is perfect for campers, vans, a teardrop, or a small trailer. A sandy tent site is now available. It can be breezy, but it often makes it pleasant depending on the time of year. When the fire ban is not in effect, feel free to bring your solo stove to enjoy the evening. No firepit is available onsite. A 0.1 mile hiking trail will lead you to a meadow with more flowers and views, so bring your chairs. A small bench is already in the meadow. There is a scrub oak woods that you will walk through, and intermittent creek that is dry in the summer and fall. Feel free to explore around! We often see deer and other wildlife on the property so bring your binoculars for your viewing pleasure. A compost toilet is available onsite, and and we will instructions for those who stay. There is an outdoor shower that is not currently up and running. Water is not available as of yet. so make sure to bring your own. A picnic table is now available to use. If you are feeling up for it, walk up the hill 3/4 mile (1,000 ft of gain) to the top of Stacker Butte for more views which include the Columbia River! This leads into the trail systems of Columbia Hills State Park. The property is located 15 minutes from Lyle,, 25 minutes to White Salmon, and less than 30 minutes from Hood River which offer groceries and other amenities. There is an observatory in Goldendale. Additionally, the east end of the Klickitat trail is less than a mile from the property that includes biking and hiking. The property has a steep shared driveway with 1154 Centerville Hwy, so please be respectful and drive slow and use 4WD if available.

All of our sites are "pull through" type sites and give you plenty of room to spread out. Each site has a fire pit to keep you warm while gazing at the amazing night sky. Even if you don't leave the property you will find plenty of things to do. Visit our pond (currently still under construction) to view wildlife, find a new trail, stargaze or just enjoy the peace and quiet. During the winter you can explore miles of backcountry roads on snowshoes or skies as we tend to be very near the snow line most of the winter.
