Amenities include electrical hookups, flush toilets, showers, and a dump station. Or, stay extra cozy in a log cabin rental equipped with a kitchenette, bunk beds, and a fireplace. Hike to Chase Point for views of Coon Lake as the sun rises, or cast rods into the water and reel in dinner. When flurries fall in December, explore the area on snowshoes or snowmobiles—over 10 miles of groomed trails await. Chippewa National Forest, 30 minutes southwest, delivers more spectacular scenery and outdoor fun with 1,300 lakes and dozens of campgrounds. Amenities like tent pads, picnic tables, firepits, drinking water, flush toilets, and showers are available. Days are great for sightseeing by car along the Edge of the Wilderness Scenic Byway, zipping the speedboat around Bowstring Lake, and heading to Suomi Hills to hike, bike, or ski.
