We have a quirky shower facility now too made out of a horse float, this is only for guests who don't have their own shower; however, you are welcome to look. Now my new pets will have to be transported home on the back seat of my car 😂 We unfortunately have had to put our prices up a little as overheads are ridiculous. Weare flexible where you camp, so once you arrive discuss with us what you would like, privacy. full sun, near the amenities... or send me a message at anytime. Our address for your destination purposes is 106 Hatchery Rd Abington Qld 4660, however a booking is needed before arrival The Scottish folk pronounce it "Heilen Coos" so that's how we say it, I'm not spelling it wrong 🤩😆 Please remember this is our home check in is after 1pm and check out is strictly before 10.30am, we promise you will get your 'Heilen Coo' fix 😝 We have merchandise and firewood please bring cash. And if have any food scraps throw them in with the chooks or a coin donation towards food, no pressure but would be appreciated 😍 Feed times are usually at 4pm. You'll meet Kelvin the Scottish Highland Bull, Oakley who mum to Lucy Moo born 5th of February and Willow, mum to Ferdinand (Ferdi) born earlier this year on the 3rd of January, so two beautiful calves to watch doing zoomies around the yard, swimming in the dam or chilling under a tree 😁 Be mindful although they are friendly and gentle the mums can be protective, so be smart please. .Parents please supervise your children at all times, no running or screaming. We provide an exciting experience and expect you to help us keep it this way. Baz and Nige are our Nigerian dwarf goats they are such characters and sure to make you laugh. Our chickens are friendly and don't mind a cuddle. Just be sure not to squeeze, be rough or chase the small animals please. You are able to share your food scraps with the animal, but no onion, white potato or avocado. Please leave your pets at your campsite when visiting our animals; Otherwise you are able to walk them around the beautiful 25 acres with them. We have 2 dogs Jesse a blue heeler and Cane our Maremma, who are both very friendly. The Maremma dog is an Italian breed of livestock gaurdian dog he does bark a little at night if there is a fox or something around that might hurt our animals. Cane has been very successful at keeping all our pets safe. Guest's have told us they have slept through the night no troubles, in saying that sometimes he doesn't need to bark at all. If anyone thinks the barking might be an issue this probably isn't the place for you. We now have Percy the peacock 🦚 who randomly Honks and explores all parts of our block. Our Neighbours have fish farms, so you will hear the odd shot gun go off at times, just to scare the shags away from feeding in the ponds. We are very easy to get along with but excessive noise or bad behaviour will not be tolerated. Feel free to put on some music (quiet by 9 and off by 10pm) and have a few drinks by the campfire, but we want our farm to be a place where our animals and our guests feel safe and relaxed. Thanks for your understanding. Relax with a cuppa, unwind with a book or go for a short bush walk and listen to the kookaburras. All your cares will feel like they are a million miles away as you soak up nature here at our farm. Conveniently there is a dump point in at Childers at the rest area, 16 Cresent St. 6km from here. Camping near Hervey Bay guide

Overview

Hervey Bay (pronounced Harvey) is best known as the gateway to World Heritage-listed Fraser Island (K’gari), less than an hour’s ferry ride away. It’s also one of Australia’s most popular whale-watching destinations, for the passing parade of Humpback whales that visit annually. Campers can find all they need in equipment and supplies in the town, and then choose between big-name commercial camping and caravan parks and smaller, non-commercial camping grounds around the Fraser Coast. Some of the best are in Wongai State Forest, where you can camp near picturesque waterholes. Kayaking and canoeing is popular, and there are easy walking trails.

Fraser Island (K’gari)

The world’s largest sand island, Fraser Island (K’gari) is popular with campers, hikers and fishermen, but can only be accessed by 4WD vehicle or on foot. Sandy tracks criss-cross the island. As well as beach camping, there are protected camping sites behind fences to keep out wild dingos, recommended for families with children under 14. Don’t-miss spots include the crystal-clear Lake McKenzie, Eli Creek and the lush rainforest of Central Station.

Bundaberg

About 90 minutes’ drive north is the sugar milling town of Bundaberg, where nature lovers flock in summer to witness the turtle nesting season at the largest rookery in the Southern Hemisphere, on the beach at Mon Repos. Bush and coastal camping spots abound, a mix of commercial operations and council-run campgrounds. One of these is Norval Park Campground, close to the ocean but with no facilities, open to tents and trailers only (a permit is needed).

Lady Elliot Island

Glamping is the only camping option on Lady Elliot, one of the Great Barrier Reef’s most remote inhabited islands. Access to the island is by air only, booked through Lady Elliot Island Eco Resort, from Hervey Bay or Bundaberg. Tents are close to the lagoon and each has a deck where you can watch nesting seabirds and turtles (in season). Less expensive cabin accommodation is available. The highlights are snorkelling off the beach, 20 dive sites, and Manta Ray (best in winter).

When to go

Book well ahead at any time of year, especially for camping on Fraser Island. During whale-watching season (August to October), the region is busy. The best weather is in Spring (September to November), when there is little rain and the summer humidity hasn’t kicked in yet.

Know before you go

  • Allow at least three days to explore Fraser Island.
  • On Fraser Island, it is illegal to feed or interact with dingos (wild dogs), which have been responsible for fatal attacks on visitors. Heavy fines apply.
  • Whale watching season in Hervey Bay runs from August to October.
  • Camping permits are required for all Queensland National Parks, forests and reserves and must be booked online and paid for before arrival.

Visit Double Island Point for excellent ocean views from the iconic lighthouse.
