Located near the Shoshone National Forrest, our RV sites have a beautiful view of the mountains. Our grass Rv sites have Electric pedestals and Water hookups. Wifi at campsite. We are near warm springs creek and mountain lakes for fishing opportunities. Hundreds of areas to hike. This small mountain area has a restaurant/bar nearby also. Ride the hundreds of miles of ORV trails (ATV, UTV, dirtbike). Porta-Potty onsite, as well as one weekly black tank service.
Tent, van, or campers welcome. We are bordering the Shoshone National Forrest with amazing views. Our sites are as close to federal land as you can get, with electric and water hook ups. Each spot is on grass, and near our rental shop for UTV rentals and small general store. Gasoline sold nearby.
We DO NOT have showers on-site.

Tent or RV sites along the hayfield. Cows are gone in the summer, but there are Llama//alpacas, chickens, horses, dogs and a cat. Great star watching at night. Occasional Aurora Borealis and falling/shooting stars. The property backs up to a State section of 640 acres for short hikes.
I have one site #4 that has water and electric, no septic, There is a hydrant available for water. Please be reasonable, if you need to fill up a large amount please let me know. I now have a PortaPotty on site. I have a shed with electricity if you need to charge cell phones etc, This is my second summer with Hipcamp. I am flexible, please communicate if you have different requirements or needs. If you have a bigger group, reach out. I now have firewood available. Also Grass fed grass finished beef. Hamburger and steak!

They offered some delicious beef for me and 3 my dogs to buy which helped keep the doggies happy. Nice and private. Great communication.

The location is beautiful. The ride up union pass is a well maintained dirt road, we got in late and had to drive it in the dark (would not recommend if you can avoid) but the road was wide enough to manage opposite direction vehicles. The spot was easy to find and get set up, the front to back leveling was a little step but side to side was good. Spot #2 still has line and neutral crossed so you'll need to use power from spot #1.

Had a lot of fun during our stay. It is a very beautiful area and the most dog friendly camp we have been to. Our dogs were able to play off leash in the field with all the local dogs. Was able to do a UTV rental out of season with just a couple days notice before our arrival. Tim had tons of trail recommendations and was a lot of fun to talk with.

We had a very lovely stay at Margaret's property, the area is gorgeous and we loved being close to the horses! Our Great Dane loved it too! We didn’t get a chance to meet the host but we did meet Suzanne who also lives on site and she is wonderful! She’s a guide in Yellowstone and works in town. We definitely hope to stay here again next time we pass through Cody and hopefully for more than one night!

Directions were easy to follow. There was about 5 miles or so of unpaved road up the mountain to the sites. The sites were all lined up, kind of close to each other. There was also the rental shop and a restaurant/bar in the same area. We didn’t try the restaurant but it was open. There was a really big field across the road that we were able to let the doggos run free, off leash.

The Longhorn is a lovely and very well-equipped RV park. The sites are not all lined up in a row and crammed in. Each one has its own breathing room. We are not normally RV Park guests, but we needed to take care of some business and this was the perfect place. The river that runs through it is a lovely river. We highly recommend this resort.

Overview
About
Spanning over 2.5 million acres of Wyoming’s most scenic landscapes, Shoshone National Forest is a wild playground for hikers, backpackers, and climbers. The forest borders Yellowstone National Park and encompasses much of the Wind River Range and the Absaroka and Beartooth Mountains. Shoshone has 30 campgrounds scattered throughout the forest, ideal for tent-campers and small trailers or RVs. Highlights include hiking in the Wind River Range, trout fishing on the Shoshone River, climbing Wyoming’s highest point, Gannett Peak, and driving the scenic Beartooth Highway.

Tips for snagging a campsite
- Most campgrounds in Shoshone National Forest are only available on a first-come, first-served basis. Just a few, including Big Game Campground and Rex Hale Campground, can be reserved six months ahead of time online.
- For campgrounds along the Beartooth Highway and in Sinks Canyon, arrive early in the day or on a Thursday for the best chance of scoring a spot. These campgrounds often fill early in the day during the busy summer season.
- Electric, water, and sewer hookups are not available in the Shoshone National Forest campground. Private RV parks can be found in the neighboring communities of Dubois, Lander, and Cody.
When to go
Hiking season can be quite short in Shoshone National Forest. Snow may not melt out in upper elevation areas until late June, making some trails not accessible until July. Camping and hiking is usually the best in July, August, and early September. Some roads, such as the Beartooth Scenic Byway, are only open from late May through mid-October but may close at any time due to weather.
Know before you go
- Most Shoshone National Forest campgrounds offer drinking water and either flush or vault toilets, but no showers.
- Stop by the Shoshone National Forest visitor center in Lander or the Wapiti Wayside on the Buffalo Bill Cody Scenic Byway, west of Cody, for trail maps and camping information.
- Shoshone National Forest is bear country. Follow all posted bear safety guidelines and never leave food or other scented items unattended.
- Dogs are allowed almost everywhere in Shoshone National Forest as long as they are on leash. Dogs are not allowed in swimming areas.

Nice campground about 10 miles from the main road. The gravel road is passable by a low van or car. Not all the sites were used when I was there - no one near me (I could see two cars and a camper). It was quiet at nice. There are bear boxes for your food. No host on site. Restrooms were fairly clean (some campers weren't very clean). It's only $10 to stay there, great price and you can walk to Louis Lake down the road.

Great fly fishing area! It is not the most obvious of roads to take but it is a beautiful spot! Rangers do patrol it often as well.

Another beautiful campground: Popo Agie Campground within Sinks Canyon State Park. The prominent feature in the park is “The Sinks” and “The Rise”. Here a river flows through the canyon in the park and then disappears underground (the “sink”). It reappears further down the canyon (the “rise”). The distance above ground is measured as one quarter of a mile and the rushing water should only take a few minutes to cover this distance underground. However, dye tests have shown that the water takes over two hours to make the journey from the “sink” to the “rise”. Craziness.

Sinks Canyon is absolutely ideal. Relatively quiet, close to world class climbing and a beautiful river as well as endless hikes. Perfect access to the Wind River Mountain Range. One of the best places in Wyoming, hands down.

Quiet little campground on the top of the Beartooth pass! Good spots, close to the road but far enough off that you won't hear it and lots of activities! You can hike around the lake or venture a bit further, take out a canoe or kayak and fish or explore some of the other nearby areas on top of the pass!
