We are located at the foot of the Watagan Mountains, with space, serenity, and a bit of bush magic. Whether you’re here to tackle the 4WD tracks in the Watagans, explore Lake Macquarie’s waterways, or hit the coast (just 20–40 mins away), we’ve got the perfect base for your group. Massive, well-spaced sites surrounded by birdlife, nature, and with a friendly resident doggo. Located just one hour north of Sydney via the M1, we’re the ideal "test run" for your new camper, van, or tent—plus, we're close enough to shops if you forget the essentials! The Facilities (The Honest Truth): We offer a flush toilet and an outdoor warm camp shower at no extra cost to the site fees. They are functional, but they aren't "Instagrammable." If you need luxury amenities, we might not be the spot for you. But if you're here for the open space, the bush, and quality time with friends and family, you’ll love it here as much as we do. Also we have unfenced dams and waterways, if you are camping with young children please consider carefully and let me know before booking. Please read the site rules and camping conditions to ensure this site suits your needs.

Bunyip's Brooke's Nook -Primitive

This is an open flat sunny site by the dam. As it is directly by the dam it is not suitable for very small children. There are two sites for Brookes Nook one by each dam. Drinking water and toilet are about 50 meters away in the shack.

This is a large open campsite under a giant pine tree, with views of almost the entire property. Behind the site is bush leading down to the creek. There are a few walks down there, a bike track for the kids, plenty of fallen wood to collect for your campfire and if you are lucky and quiet you might see a deer, wombat, platypus, bandicoot or or a wallaby. You will certainly see and hear a large array of birds.

This is our most popular camping site. A beautiful quiet clearing in the bush. You could be a million miles from anywhere but your a short 3 minuet drive to the shops. Fire pit and an abundance of fallen wood for you to collect. Beautiful glimpses of the dam and it's island and just behind you down the hill is the creek with bush walking tracks to explore. This site can take a single camper or a group.

This camping cottage is a work in progress with charm to spare – perfect for couples or small families who enjoy an outdoorsy experience. Inside, you’ll find a brand-new bathroom, a 4-poster, double bed, and 2 king single beds, each in it's own room. The kitchen is basic - a sink, air fryer, microwave and Kettle. There's an outside fire pit and BBQ area with gas BBQ and seating, also you can also check out nearby, local eateries. My tips are: The Yard Brewery & Smokehouse in Morisset, Indian Experience Bar and Restaurant in Morisset or just walking distance to Bellbird Grove Cafe on Kings Rd for lunch or coffee. 🔥 Enjoy a firepit under the stars – the perfect spot for marshmallows, stargazing, and relaxing by the fire. Location: Just a short drive to Lake Macquarie for a swim or picnic, and perfect for 4WDing adventures in the nearby Watagans National Park. This is a great base for outdoor lovers who want to unplug, explore, and enjoy nature in a low-key setting, whether you're hiking, fishing or just driving around.

Green nature like camping ground. Great for rv or your camping rig set up when self sufficient. Basic amenities like the toilet and outdoor shower which had warm to renew. Very nice hosts and Lisa will bring a fire pit if you need. Very responsive host when you book.

We had such a wonderful stay at Lisa’s property! It was so close to home, but once we arrived, it genuinely felt like we were miles away. The property is beautifully set up, and although there were other campers there, you hardly noticed them at all because of how private and well-spaced the sites are. We didn’t use the toilets or showers during our stay, so unfortunately I can’t comment on those facilities, but everything else was fantastic. It was peaceful, relaxing and exactly what we needed for a little getaway. We absolutely loved our stay and can’t wait to come back! Highly recommend.

Nice place. Lisa was a nice host. It felt safe. Unfortunately the grass was full of bindis and there was no water in the dam due to no recent rain. It’s just full of weeds and bugs.

We absolutely loved our stay at Bunyips camp. Facilities are basic but all you need. Feels like you are in the bush while only being just off the freeway. Lisa was a fabulous host who was very reaponsive and helpful. My son loved helping her let out the chickens in the morning. We will be back to stay again!

Really relaxed and beautiful site, we had so much privacy for our small group felt like we were in the middle of nowhere. So many stars, beautiful trees and we spotted an echidna! The toilet is basic but functional and we had a fire pit. Will definitely be back!

We felt a million miles from home!! What an epic location! The camp spaces were perfectly spread out, felt like we were in the wilderness! Our group are now scrambling to get another group together to book in another date!

Great campsite for self-sufficient campers. However a basic flushing toilet and shower are available a few minutes walk from the campsite. We stayed up near the pine tree on Lisa's recommendation. More private from the house, less sunshine but drier during the rainy time we were there.

Lisa property is beautiful, and she is so kind and friendly. Our family enjoyed the walk through the bush and the kids loved Lisa's chicken's and Dog. Perfect place to spend some quality time together.

Overall an okay experience. Unfortunately when we arrived, we were told that the campsite we had booked was unavailable due to another group staying there. After setting up at a much smaller, more public site, we found the toilet at the back of a private shed with no door. Pretty disappointed that the site we booked was just given away, but was nice to spend time with family regardless.

Lovely site and place, nice and close to the highway would be a good stop for a overnight Can still hear road noise and the rosters next door were fairly noisy even throughout the night. We also had a group of caravans setup quite close to us where there wasn’t a marked site on the 2nd night
