A beautiful island campground thickly forested with spruce, fir, and birch, Four Acre Woods was created over 60 years ago on Sunshine Island, Maine. Under the name Sunshine Campground, it hosted people from all over the world and delivered the spirit and essence of this ancient, abundant land that so many ancestors had roamed and celebrated before. It was open to the public through to the 90s, but then sat alone for 15 years, waiting for someone to revive it and bring it back to the world. Then one day, Caleb and Wolf met on a bus, heading south from Down East Maine, where they instantly connected and joined forces. They worked together redressing a home in Stonington for visitors to experience and became brothers while doing so. Eventually, the presence and opportunity of the campground caught their attention and after working out the technicalities, they worked together to bring this beautiful land and campground back to the people under its new life and name, Four Acre Woods. After opening on July 1st 2020, the land is finally back to sharing all of her beauty and spirit with the people. So, Welcome Home. Sincerely, - Four Acre Woods Caretakers

Four Acre Woods 20ft Yurt
Caleb's yurt was a pleasure to stay in. We arrived to find a well lit campground, equipped with a gas grill, was station and firepit. The yurt was nothing short of luxurious with all the amenities. The wood stove we found packed and ready for ignition. Definitely coming back to this great, tidy campground

Octopus Coral (Tent/Primitive)
Octupus Coral Primitive Site
I really enjoyed camping at Four Acre Woods Campground! The Primitive site was secluded from the other sites so it was peaceful and relaxing during my stay! I liked how close the bath house was so I didn’t have to walk far! I’d definitely stay here again!

Heron Hideout (Geodome Rental)
The location & setting were great. Caleb, the caretaker, was helpful and always available. The "smallness" of the campground (12 sites?), was what we wanted. The close proximity to lots of hiking trails and the shoreline were bonuses.

Nate and Elainas Experience!
This was a first time try for Elaina and I! 100% will do it again! Perfect time of the year to see Maine in all its colorful glory! The accomodations at Four Acres were amazing too. We arrived a little late in the evening but had wood waiting for us with lights on and a spacer heater going in the Geo-Dome! It brought the perfect balance of being in nature and being in a cozy get away. Not to mention the complimentary Sauna sessions on a cool autumn night, and very well managed facilities! This campground is in an awesome location well worth the navigation of the island to get too! Couldn't be happier with the experience! Thanks 4 Acres you guys rock!

Fox Den (20amp Hookup)
A New Favorite!
This campground instantly became one of our absolute favorites of all time! We loved our stay and would absolutely go again. Very woodsy, sites are level and kept tidy. Our site had electricity, water, a picnic table, and a fire pit. The staff is super friendly. My teenage son loved that he could chop wood himself, and I liked that I could Venmo payments and donations for services and wood. My husband and I enjoyed the wood-fired sauna and had the most relaxing experience. It's a private sauna area with a privacy fenced yard and a cold tub. The community cabin is such a nice spot to run into fellow campers, catch some Wi-Fi, make tea, etc. The bathrooms were clean and functional. The quiet hours were followed by most campers and it made it very pleasant

Four Acre Woods 20ft Yurt
Tiny house Air BnB in Stonington
We didn’t end up staying at the yurt, but I don’t seem to be able to leave a review on the tiny house we stayed at. There ended up being some electrical problems with the yurt so we were given some options and ended up staying at Calebs tiny house in Stonington. It was so lovely and just the perfect space, beautiful view, and very accommodating. Would stay at the tiny house again and will definitely try to stay at the yurt another time. I Was also pleasantly surprised that four acres stay open so late into the season. Overall easy and welcoming stay, would recommend either the airbnb or campground just because the host are so nice.
