Five Mile Camp
in Five Mile Ranch, ColoradoAwesome camp next to the dunes!
I had a wonderful time at the Five Mile Ranch Camp! Getting there was relatively easy, even in the dark. I highly recommend putting in the latitude and longitude of the camp into your map app, for extra assuredness on the country roads. Whatâs really cool is that the camp is pretty far away from the main highway so once we got there, we felt totally secluded. Thereâs a little cabin on the property that has a composting toilet, sink, kitchenware, stovetop, filtered water, and a seating area with games. Truly, as far as camping cabins go, this one was luxurious. Gregg, the camp host, is super super friendly and in honor of 4th of July when I stayed, he hosted a community bonfire and mini firework show. It was awesome to have a communal experience like that. At the bonfire, I met Greggâs dogs, affectionately names Asia, Bean, and Moosey. When I tell you these were the literal best dogs this side of the Mississippi, I mean it. The campsite is located very conveniently adjacent to the Sand Dunes and at the base of Mt Blanca. Great spot for hiking and exploring!
Overall, I would highly recommend this camp to anyone! Just be sure to wear long pants and a long sleeve shirt as the mosquitoes are gnarly this year. (Please donât use deet as it bio-accumulates in our ecosystems)
