Cut out of the iconic Lake Tahoe shoreline, Cave Rock is an immense tunnel carved out of the center of a large cliff and overlook. From the parking area it takes just twenty minutes to summit the stunning outcrop. Take in the mesmerizing scale and beauty of Lake Tahoe as you emerge from the tall trees. This vista is an amazing spot for a photo as long as you mind the drop. There is beach access from the parking area where you can find a boat launch as well as a small beach to launch your water toys from or just sit back and enjoy thee mountina sunshine.
The best time to visit Cave Rock State Park is during the summer months, from late May to early September, when the boat launch is open from 6am to 8pm and the weather is ideal for water activities and picnicking. Winter visits offer a quiet, stark beauty, but come prepared for limited access and chilly conditions.
