Hide away in Hyde Memorial State Park any time of the year!

Although summer hikes offer a spectacular view of pine covered hills bursting with vivid hues, the Sangre de Cristo Mountains are a whole new adventure in the winter months when snow makes the rolling hills perfect for snowshoeing, sledding, and cross-country skiing. Campgrounds stay open all year long, except under unusually heavy snow conditions.

It's a good park with multiple sites that have 3 sided log shelters that you can put the picnic table in or some people slept in them. There was no water available (potable or otherwise) when we stayed but we had brought our own. Hiking trails in pretty good shape, trails outside the park seemed to be much more heavily used.

This is a wonderful base camp for exploring the mountains outside Santa Fe. The park is halfway between the Santa Fe Ski Area and town making it perfect for supply runs. The tent sites are really nice and they have a few electric sites for RVs. A few sites are reservable. There is water available and vault toilets but no showers. There are trails inside the park and more outside so you could spend a week here and not try them all!
