Fontainebleau State Park is on the north shore of Lake Pontchartrain and has beautiful trees with Spanish moss and a beach area (although it was flooded whilst we were there).
If you're stopping through Louisiana, this is your place. The beach is lovely with live oaks and pines scattered along the shore. If you have little ones, there's a swimming area, and for those who don't, there are plenty of quiet nooks to find. The camping areas were very nice, some secluded and some not. And there is an abundance of trails where you're sure to see animals (wild boars, deer, alligators, other forest animals)!
