We sit on 50 acres north of Lake Pontchartrain. We're bounded by the Big Branch Wildlife Reserve to the south and a Rails to Trails bike path on the north. We are 3 miles from LaCombe to the east, Mandeville to the west, and about 1 mile from Fountainbleu State Park. Most of the farm, 80%, is mixed hardwood forest and designated wetlands. Desert Bayou and East Branch Bayou meander across the property which is home to deer, foxes, bobcats, owls, fireflies, otters, raccoons, turtles, and, well, about anything common to the wilds of the Gulf South. This includes a litany of snakes, mosquitoes, and deer flies in their season. About 5 acres are used to raise poultry, bees and organically farmed blueberries. Overall, the land feels primordial and pristine. We are a designated Monarch Waystation and in the spring and fall see many migrating butterflies. We cultivate a lot of flowers so almost year round you can see butterflies in profusion. We are part of the USDAs Conservation Stewardship Program, concentrating on protecting and increasing habitat for animals and pollinators. Dogs are welcome, 2 of them live here, but the chickens often run free and chasing them or the deer for fun or food is not acceptable. This is a rustic situation: think dry camping, outdoor (heated) shower, and port-o-lets. We have hookups for one small RV or camper close to the barn. In addition, we have a 10x10' treehouse, and several places to pitch a tent. The farm is pretty secure--someone is on-site most of the time, it's gated, and there are security cameras at access points. But it is a farm in a rural community--you may hear roosters crow, sheep bleat, dogs bark, and the mule bray along with the sounds of owls, hawks, coyotes and other native wildlife of the area. If this suits you then come stay and enjoy the farm life.

Bayou Tent

Secluded, peaceful & green camping!

I once dreampt of having a self sustaining farm. This place is it come to life. Fruit, bees, chickens, sheep and a horse. Land unspoiled and supported without leaving simple luxuries of modern life like a hot shower. Bring deet, and big zappers if you're close to the water but it really doesn't get much better than this. I have a pile of stress in my life I could waste time telling you about, but the point is: come here to get away. Cheri is a thoughtful, kind and very green host. That practically makes her a Saint. Buy chicken eggs. You're lucky if you're able to buy honey or even donate, but it's worth it. She helped remind me of so much that actually matters and dreams forgotten or (or so i thought) broken. I needed this break and this place. There is a store and beach nearby. Pick your own berries. Pet the horse, she's really sweet. Find your center. I know I did, and I will be back again and again. So close to the city and yet completely apart. I could fill this whole box, but at the end all I can say is that you won't regret it, unless I can't get a reservation because of ya'll. Just take care of Cheri and her property and I won't come for you, lol. Pack smart, ask questions. She is here for all of it, and does not disappoint.

Berry Field Camp

Great bicycle friendly camping

I brought a group of 20 cyclists here and we camped at blueberry field. It is spectacular and a great getaway from the city. Cheri was very accommodating and her dogs are so cute. I will be returning with friends soon.

Bayou Tent

What a GEM

The tent is so comfortable (even in stormy conditions!) - the porch cover makes for great afternoons during high heat, very comfortable mattress, and plenty of firewood to gather around the property. Very dog friendly - the resident dogs Tommy & Rue are cute as can be! Feels super private, yet still very close to the compost toilet, shower and blueberry field (excellent sunset views from the field!!) Cheri is an exceptional host - literally couldn’t ask for more.

Berry Field Camp

It looks like a great place to stay, however, my sister was with me and she was having problems with the mosquitoes so we ended up leaving. I would have been fine because they don’t bother me, I was very disappointed that we had to leave because Cheri has a beautiful place!

Treehouse in the Pines

Treehouse Camping

Great spot for families. Our 3 little boys loved romping around the blueberry field, scouting out all the animals, and sleeping in a treehouse! Super convenient to parks and trails and incredibly friendly owners. No complaints!
