I really enjoy staying at Stoney Creek. This was the second visit first was site #3 this was #9. I enjoyed #9 as it was by the creek. The host Chris has and continues to make improvements to the property. Chris does what he can to accommodate the campers. There is a country store very near which carries anything needed. Stoney Creek is close the Peaks of Otter and many hiking trails. Other sites like D-Day Memorial is near by. Bathhouse is also a plus. I will definitely be returning. Thank You Chris for providing such a pleasant place to stay.
This site was great! I camped out of the back of my truck and got to watch the creek and the sun go down. The property is beautiful, great little woods and green grass and a very clean bath house. Very tranquil little slice of VA with a beautiful view of the mountains. Recommend.
I was in the area for Ignite! Men's Conference at Liberty University. I didn't want to stay in a hotel in town or an Airbnb. I wanted to take "Itty Bitty" (my little travel trailer) to a nice place outside of the city and enjoy a little bit of camp life in the evenings. One evening, it was late when I got to the camp, and I had to be up early. The second night was cold and windy, so I took the truck to a nearby off-road trail. I didn't really get to enjoy sitting by a campfire, but this Hipcamp was still just right for my needs. It was peaceful and had everything I needed.
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the campsite, particularly the stunning views it offered. However, I believe the directions to the site could be improved by adding more visible signage. On a positive note, the shower facilities were excellent—clean and well-maintained, which made for a very comfortable experience.
We arrived at Stoney Creek which is part Shenandoah valley not long after a snowfall which was followed by rain which froze as the temperature dropped to the low 20s. Roads in this secluded area were not fully plowed so we were happy to settle down for the evening and get cozy in our minivan camper. Chris, our host , was very helpful, making sure all went well with us .
The bathroom has a shower, a washer and dryer and best of all, heat ! There's a gas station/convience store just down the street. There was phone service (T-Mobile) along with Internet which is rare in the mountains in the middle of nowhere.
Chris, our host, lives close by and was extremely accommodating. We hope to visit again in warmer weather because the area is breathtakingly beautiful with magnificent vistas of mountain peaks and expansive valleys.
