This property was once a 300 acre plus tobacco farm. The original log cabin was built in the 1850s and now serves as our dining room. The front portion of the house was completed in April of 1861 and the back in the early 1900s. We have plans to eventually turn it into a working farm which produces tinctures, salves and extracts of various native plants including hemp. Learn more about this land: Heavily wooded mountain side with flowing creek. Easy access (walking distance) to Jefferson National Forest, National Forest horse trail and the Blue Ridge Parkway. (Note: You cannot drive to the Blue Ridge Parkway as the path is an old forest road which has been gated, but you can walk up to it.) We also have a small, uncovered tree house which is available on a first come, first served basis. Only site 4 is next to the brook. However, the site positions are for the purposes of the listing only. You may camp anywhere on the property. There is plenty of frontage on the creek and several tents can go up there. We also now have a purple bus which is retrofitted as a camper and has a refrigerator, stove and television which is connected to our internet. Site 3 - Tent camping by a gurgling brook

Toni provided detailed, easy to follow instructions prior to arrival for location, parking and camp site. We opted for the site that had a flat area made for tents. Our 4 person tent fit exactly perfectly. It was quiet and the little creek was soothing.

Not as described

This property was not really as advertised. We have the smallest pop-up available and there was no room to maneuver, this is a tent-only property. The description mentioned at least two sites and we were told we had our choice of sites. We could only find one, and it was about 15 feet from the pit toilet. Walking to the back of the site showed landscape debris pushed back down the bank to make room for the site. For the first time in our hip camp adventures we opted for a hotel.

The host was very kind and helpful with instructions which is greatly appreciated. Beautiful property in a lovely town not far from Roanoke. I would recommend booking this space if you like that small town feeling.

Welcoming and Safe!

I was looking for a place where I could feel safe sleeping alone in my car, and Roni’s place allowed me to feel beyond comfortable doing so! She welcomed me and assisted me with my needs, and having the toilet shed right next to me was perfect and private. I would absolutely come back here again!

Without Hesitation

Roni suggested that I move to campsite 1 due to the size of my pop-up tent trailer. It is close to the amenities and a lovely spot for the sunrise. Roni was warm, welcoming, and conscientious host. I definitely know where to stay the next time I need camping in the area
