Twenty six acres of beautiful mountain view’s nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountain’s perfect for PRIMITIVE tent and hammock camping. Take a small hike to the top of the property to see Old Rag! View of Blue Quartz Winery/Shotwell Run Brewing Company in the distance. Mature hardwood forest and plenty of wildlife to be seen (yes bears have been seen on the property often). Feel free to wonder the property, easiest way to identify property lines just remember not to cross any fences.
There is plenty of good oak, hickory, walnut, and poplar fire wood laying around, and there is a community wood pile started just remember to please collect and add to the pile before you leave.
While many types of vehicles (From a 15 passengers Van to a Toyota Prius) have made it up the driveway just fine, please be aware it is steep and 4wheel/all wheel/rear wheel drive is recommended.

Inclusion policyWe have a zero-tolerance policy against discrimination at Hipcamp. We are committed to helping our Host and Hipcamper communities be inclusive.
This campsite is a peaceful and spacious retreat, perfect for those looking to escape the crowds and enjoy nature. It's a bit off the beaten path, requiring a vehicle that can handle a steep and sometimes muddy road, but the privacy and views are worth the trek. Visitors love the ample space for tents and the availability of firewood, making it ideal for both solo campers and groups. While the site is rustic with no amenities like bathrooms or water, campers appreciate the secluded setting and the proximity to great hiking spots.

A diamond in the rough! My buddies and I had a great time camping here with plenty of privacy and easy access to the national park.

Loved the camping, but it is primitive (no bathroom, no water). Big site, tons of places to pitch a tent. Road to get up to camp is quite difficult, would recommend 4WD car.

Great Isolated Spot
Tent
I loved camping on Katie's land. Her directions to the site were helpful. The spot is up a steep hill, but we made it just fine in a 2W Tacoma. Probably wouldn't have been so easy if it was muddy. Would definitely recommend to someone looking for a secluded spot, very removed and peaceful. So much space to walk around, gather sticks, and enjoy the view. Thanks Katie!

Great experience
Tent
We enjoyed our stay on the hilltop near old rag mountain! We chose to set up camp down the hill a bit where we could catch a glimpse of the horizon. We woke to the sounds of nature and the cows across the valley. Even heard coyotes during the night. It’s private after you get past the neighbors house. Steep bumpy hill but no problem with a 4x4. Far better than any crowded public campground!

Perfect spot!
Tent · Group trip
Me and my friends all loved our stay here. The spot is awesome and really secluded from any other campers but also close enough to roads where it doesn’t feel sketchy. They have a fire pit, few makeshift benches and a nice clearing to hang out in. Overall, we had an awesome time and highly recommend.
