Located about a mile to the Oregon State Capital, less than a mile to the Oregon State Hospital and a block from Englewood Park, the Bunkhouse is a unique, cabin-like dwelling. Some say smaller than a tiny house, at 8x8 ft, the Bunkhouse still has all the necessities for living: *dry toilet (search Loveable Loo for dry toilet information) * mini kitchen - cold or hot water in jugs or water dispenser, mini fridge, induction hot plate, toaster oven, sink, all necessary utensils * elevated twin futon bed * easy chair and TV tray for a table * NO running water or SHOWERThere is a ONE WEEK MINIMUM STAY at this location Located close to Englewood Park, the Bunkhouse is a unique, cabin-like dwelling. Some say smaller than a tiny house, at 8x8 ft, it still has all the basics for simple living: *dry toilet (search Loveable Loo for dry toilet information) *mini kitchen - cold or hot water in jugs or water dispenser, mini fridge, induction hot plate, toaster oven, sink, all basic utensils, dishes, pots and pans * elevated twin futon bed * easy chair and TV tray for a table * effective heaters * windows with screens * NO running water or SHOWER Showering during warm months: a portable camping shower could be available. Showering during cooler months: I learned this from a former Bunkhouse guest: get a Planet Fitness membership for a $40 initial fee - more or less - then pay $10/mo for the use of equipment and showers in any of their locations. Some work settings have employee showering facilites as well. Englewood is a beautiful historic neighborhood surrounded by towering Douglas Fir, Western Red Cedar, and Oregon White Oak. Joe Mocha Coffee Shop is a few blocks away, Safeway and the Oregon State Hospital are about a half mile, while downtown Salem, Willamette University, and the Amtrak Station are an easy mile-or-so walk While staying in the bunkhouse you'll be able to enjoy our beautiful gardens and our two old dogs, Rosie and Baillie, who will bark when they meet you then be your pal forever. Other dog friends may appear at any time as well.
