I grew up on a dairy farm in Tillamook County OR and have always loved the country. Our home is just a little bit of what I cherished about my childhood - a creek/river to play in, animals to enjoy, a place to grow our own food and the ability to see the stars at night.
This was the perfect place to stay! Susan was wonderful - so friendly and helpful. She showed us around the farm and introduced us to the alpacas. The field where we camped was beautiful, next to a river and there were some blackberry bushes with ripe berries! The trees offered some nice shade. Her place is quiet and feels far out but is close enough to town should you need anything. We'd absolutely stay here again!
An idyllic and well cared for property adjacent to a river and near the quaint, historic town of Scio, Gateway Farm offers a big, mowed field with potable water to camp on. Shade structures, chairs, and tables were available too. Owner Susan is friendly, welcoming, and full of great suggestions about local sights such as the nearby swimming hole and can't-miss Silver Falls State Park. A herd of adorable alpacas graze an adjacent field. You, too, can graze the grapevines and blackberry bushes that line the fences. A farm offering eggs from happy free range chickens is just next door. Highly recommended!
Susan was an amazing host, she provided us eclipse glasses and let us pet her alpaca. Everything was really great, we are fresh plums right off the trees and dipped our toes in the nearby creek. Would stay again next time we are in oregon. Thanks again, Susan!
Susan was very welcoming, and te facilities were perfect.
