Good news! Open fire ban lifted, camp fires are ok now! The Flying J Farm is 250 beautiful rolling acres including 100 acres of forest, 6-acre lake small pond, three streams, and numerous fields for crops and pastures with cows. The owner bought the farm in 1998 for his retirement from a faculty position at the Ohio State university. Two buildings, the farm house and old barn, are original dating back to 1831. These have been restored for current use. The mission of the farm is to restore health both in people though the products produced and in the land by farming in a sustainable way with no conventional chemicals, antibiotics, and use of GMO. We host many visitors including tours and events. An on farm market is available to visitors for purchase of our products including grass-fed beef, maple syrup, and fruits and vegetables. The cabin was built using wood from the farm. It has off-grid electricity meaning it is powered by batteries charged by solar panels. There is not sufficient power for devices with a heating element such as coffee makers and hair dryers. You may charge cell phones. For any other use, please check with the owner. Wild Life. There is an abundance of wildlife to be observed on the farm. Deer can be seen at dusk, raccoons can be seen going through your camp food at night (if you put it in your car), turkeys, hawks, vultures, rabbits, coyotes (heard screaming at night), frogs (especially heard at night), fish (jumping), and many song birds (my favorite, the bobolink, May and June only, nesting in the pastures).

We loved staying here, bent tree trail was really cool to see and the bathroom house was nice to have nearby in walking distance to site 3. It’s a very quiet piece of land, check in was easy and it was pretty cool to see the cows roaming around!

Beautiful View of the Lake
We loved our spot at site 4! Site 4 does involve walking to the site but it wasn’t bad at all (bring a wagon to help carry things over). We’re right by the trails which was lovely. Closest spot to get wood is 15 minutes away at Kroger in Johnstown. Fire pit was amazing. Had a great experience here!

We loved camping at this beautiful property. A nice quiet change from state campgrounds, with plenty of space between sites. We enjoyed hiking around the lake, taking the rowboat out, and visiting the cows with our toddler. Lots of poison ivy if you venture off the trail in the woods or away from the wooded campsites, but not a problem if you are aware and careful. The grassy sites by the lake might be better if you wanted to keep more distance from it. Overall a great stay and we would definitely return!

Site 8 The Chapel
The perfect little getaway. We are usually car or tent campers but decided to glamp a little and booked the chapel. It rained all weekend and it was THE best time. So relaxing and the chapel kept us well protecting from the elements. We have really come to love Flying J and recommend it to anyone visiting.

First Time Camper
First, Richard is a wonderful human being and an incredible host. He was more than happy to answer any questions we had and gives his campers much privacy. We would love to do a tour of his property next time and learn more about his grass-fed animals and products, etc. Second, the land was beautiful and the cows were just the cutest and most calm creatures. They’re clearly very happy. ❤️🐄 Our campsite was pretty secluded but close enough that we could go to and from the car/cabin as needed. Very clean campsite with a picnic table and fire pit! We walked the trail for a while and enjoyed the view of the lake. We look forward to visiting again sometime and have talked about it since leaving. Worth the 3 hour drive for us!!

Perfect Stay
We had an excellent stay at Flying J Farms! The site was exactly as described- plenty of room for our tents and far enough away from other campers to feel private but not isolated. The site was very quiet and peaceful. We loved being by the lake. We fished for a little, but didn’t catch anything. We really appreciated the flush toilet and the cows were so cute! Thanks for an amazing stay! We’ll probably stay at site 1 or 2 next time to be a little closer to the bathroom, but we’ll definitely be back!
