This property was first established in 1976, and the original owner named the property “Pleasant Acres”. He and his wife lived here for over 30 years and still have grandchildren living a few houses down from us. Upon meeting his granddaughter and hearing the story, we decided to honor him and his family by keeping the name. My wife and I have lived here since March 2020, and we are excited to share this little slice of heaven with our friends, family, and future guests.

Lou's campsite by Big Darby Creek offers a tranquil escape with plenty of outdoor activities like kayaking and hiking nearby. Campers appreciate the large, dispersed camping areas, wildlife sightings, and the option to use a fire pit. Lou is a welcoming host, often checking in with guests and providing helpful information. While access to the creek could be clearer, the peaceful, scenic surroundings and proximity to town make it a popular choice.
Yup we were 26 foot toy hauler and needed the space, turn around and scenic all the way suitable for long vehicles.
The cat enjoyed even on leash being able to get around in the grassy areas and paw a few trees.
Fishing with ODNR license on the bank of scenic Darby rewarded foo.
Retreat at the Creek
This creekside Hipcamp was ideal for my weekend getaway. I enjoyed campfires by the scenic Big Darby Creek and I hiked in the Prairie Oaks Metro Park a short drive away. Lou was a great host, checked in daily and was available for questions. I hope to visit again.
What a great experience camping on Lou's land. It's got lots of good spots near the water. The host was super nice to us. I would recommend to anyone looking for a peaceful camping retreat. I will certainly be back with my family.
A wonderful spot to say with littles. The site is clean, tidy and feels very safe. I would absolutely stay there again. The host is kind and attentive. He came to check on us, and ask if we needed anything. Only downside is having to pee in the woods. But our kids were such champions about it. I would highly recommend this camping spot if you're looking for a great place to stay at night.
This site was easy to reach from I80, and had a lovely view of the river. We had a little trouble finding the correct house as their street number is only visible from one of the two possible directions from which you can arrive.
