The cottage was built in the 1880s by a Keene Valley artist who loved its location on a high point with a beautiful view. Our family has owned the property since 1906, and we often stay in a house down the hill (not visible from the cottage). Keene Valley is a very special place for us, and almost everyone who comes to visit feels the same way. Learn more about this land: Come stay in our 1880s vintage summer cottage, built as a studio by a Keene Valley artist on a secluded and elevated spot in the center of the Adirondacks' High Peaks. It has a gorgeous view of Giant, Hopkins and Spread Eagle mountains. The summer cottage overlooks a cliff and is a few hundred yards from the nearest house, a classic Adirondack camp that shares its driveway but can't be seen. Even so, it is within walking distance of the village of Keene Valley, where you won't want to miss homemade donuts at the Noonmark Diner. Hikers love it because it's a 20-minute walk to The Garden, one of the largest and most popular trailheads in the Adirondacks that has very little parking. The cottage has a huge covered porch (not screened) that looks out on the mountains and functions as an outdoor dining room with a view. The accommodations are rustic but comfortable: a bedroom with a double bed; a kitchen with a stove, refrigerator, microwave, toaster, and coffee maker; a bathroom with a shower/bath; and a large sitting room with a stone fireplace and a futon that sleeps two. There is a one-room cabin nearby (also available for rent) with a screened porch that is perfect for sleeping in the summer.Come stay in our 1880s vintage summer cottage, built as a studio by a Keene Valley artist on a secluded and elevated spot in the center of the Adirondacks' High Peaks. This place is a winner!
This was our second visit and we had longed all year to be sitting on the splendid porch again. It's magnificent even in the rain! And to be so close to the village of Keene Valley (and a quick walk to the fabulous coffee shop), the porch and the cabin are amazingly quiet. Almost no traffic noise from Route 73, which is something that is not the case at many other rental spots.

This cabin is a treasure! Situated between moss-covered boulders and a massive outcropping, it has a view from the spacious porch that can only be described as sublime. The inside space is rustic, but comfortable, with ample natural light. The kitchen has minimal counter space, but is very well-stocked with cookware, cutlery, plates, bowls, etc., as well as a large fridge, a microwave, toaster, toaster/oven and coffee maker. It's an easy walk to the center of the village where you'll find fabulous coffee and baked goods, a small grocery store, a great diner, and a splendid library. Best of all , despite the convenience to town and a main road, the cabin is wonderfully quiet. The sound we heard most often was the hermit thrushes singing in the nearby woods!
