The camp was first built in 1905 by Dr. Goldsmith and family. The doctor and his family used the camp for summer vacations. During the winter the camp was rented out as winter hotel for loggers. Ice was harvested from the pond and stored in what is now one of the cabins. When our family bought the place, the hotel was falling down and the buildings were in disrepair. Geoffrey, the family caretaker, has spent the last few years cleaning up the site. All that remains now of the hotel is the chimney while the ice house and caretaker's cabin have been improved and are now ready for visitors. With 840 ft of pond frontage and 4.4 acres you can pitch a tent on the banks of the pond, up in the woods, or stay in one of the two cabins on site -- all are included in the cost of booking! Swimming and boating in the pond is obligatory. Year round fishing has long been a tradition.  The spring fed pond is home to large and small mouth bass, northern pike, crappy, and blue gills. There are a number of ponds and state lands nearby. Accommodations include two outhouses and two docks so no waiting. There is a canoe and rowboat available and life jackets. The camp is car accessible three seasons and snowshoe accessible in the winter.  There are summer cottages across the pond but not much happening on our side. Cedar Lodge, the nearest bar/restaurant, is about 5 minutes away and very popular all year round. The closest gas station and convenience store is about 20 minutes in the village of Parishville. With 840 ft of pond frontage and 4.4 acres you can pitch a tent on the banks of the pond, up in the woods, or stay in one of the two cabins on site -- all are included in the cost of booking! Swimming and boating in the pond is obligatory. Terra’s site was great. The cabin was so cozy and had everything you could need. It was great being right on the water and all the water toys. Definitely would love to go back in the warmer weather.

This place is really cool. It has tons of character. If you like relaxing in front of a warm campfire or doing a cookout then this is the place for you, with several fireplaces/woodstoves/grills to choose from and a shed filled with firewood and kindling. The cozy white cabin was stocked with everything imaginable for a comfortable off-grid getaway. We did opt to use our own queen-sized inflatable mattress, though, as I was a little too tall for the bed provided.

Beautiful Getaway!!
Very beautiful place to stay! So peaceful and relaxing. The rustic camp pretty much has everything you need for your stay. It’s intimidating upon arrival wondering if you can survive without some modern amenities but you quickly learn to adapt and embrace the challenge. The main cabin is beautiful and uses every bit of it to tuck away anything you might need. It was warm the first few days we were there so no need for a fire in the cabin. But the last day rained all day and after being chilly all day the fireplace was the most welcome luxury that night! Our dogs were in heaven the whole time as they had free rein to explore. The fishing was incredible! Fish after fish was caught the whole time we were there. All in all a very wonderful time was had by all!!!

AWESOME TIME!’
Terra and Geoff provided an absolutely wonderful camping vacation for Tim and I. Sterling Pond is truly a magical place with all of the amenities provided for us. From canoe to can opener we did not lack for comforts. The accommodations were exactly as advertised. We had peaceful evenings filled with great food, good laughs and overall an awesome respite from the everyday grind of life. The cabins and outhouses were very clean and there was plenty of supplies in the event you forgot something. Our dog Gracie had free rein to run around leash-less and enjoyed every moment of the trip. She even ventured into “paw high” water, which was a first. We will be sure to return to our new favorite camping spot and thank our gracious hosts for making our stay filled with great times and awesome memories. The Clarks 2024

Such a great spot! The hosts have provided so many helpful things (cooking equipment, multiple fireplaces, boats and equipment, games, etc.) -- it's such a nice touch. It was raining for most of our time there, but there was still plenty to do.
