Where the fiery Taos (45mins) desert expanse and its majestic mountain ranges merge with the colorful rolling hills of magical Abiquiu (30mins) lies a fertile valley in Carson National Forest. There the old town (145 people) of La Madera sits, where you'll find this quaint private room with its own bathroom. A nourishing hide out to center and ground into Earth and melt with the elements, listen to the birds, mountains, your self, finish some work and soak in the hot springs. We really enjoyed our stay, the house was super cozy and the land was beautiful, and was really close to ojo Caliente for us to visit the hot springs each day

Beautiful spot, cozy, and welcoming. I’m so glad to have discovered this little slice of serenity. Sus provided a long list of must see destinations in the area, complete with links to navigation. Although I could have been content with remaining on the property, communing with the mostly untouched land, I took full advantage of traveling to nearby Abiquiu, Ghost Ranch, Ojo Caliente hot springs, and Santa Fe. I definitely recommend staying here!

Peaceful and tranquil

A beautiful and tranquil spot for rest and relaxation. Susanne is a wonderful hostess and provides a variety of ideas for exploring the area. The location provides easy access to the Ojo Caliente Hot Springs (highly recommend); Taos; Santa Fe and a wide variety of options for hiking trails. I chose the Ensuite lodging option and had access to a fully equipped kitchen and refrigerator. I highly recommend visiting Susanne and her "slice of paradise".

Susanne’s property was full of magic! Loved the vibe of her home and the creek running through her yard was beautiful. Great hiking across the creek up on the ridge. We had fun rock hounding and jumping on the trampoline!
