The Sawtooth Monkey is a fictional character who lives in the Sawtooth mountains in Idaho, this creature is a crossbreed of a salmon and baby Bigfoot. Breeding and divine intervention took place circa 1989 when the 1989 fire hit the SF region of the Payette river. Baby Bigfoot had no where to go but the river, he was saved by a school of salmon who by Deus ex machina and the Idaho river God, Beeraspirits transformed Bigfoot and the Alpha 15 pound papa salmon into the Sawtooth Monkey. When SM hit puberty he developed a skin condition and an appetite for coconuts. He is currently friendly but a nuisance, because of his skin problems he is known for stealing ointment, lotions and sunscreen. Also, because of his love for coconuts, he is known for steal those too. Should you confront or come in contact with this elusive creature, please don't feed him anything but coconuts.3.5 acres on the rivers edge. Bring your camp trailer or your tent. There is electricity, well water and a fire pit on site. Sitting on the rivers edge of the South Fork of the Payette river; you can walk to the hot springs about a mile away or drive and park. Should you want to book a river rafting trip, Payette River Company (payetterivercompany.com) is across the highway. This pristine campsite is an hours drive from dozens of lakes, breathtaking hikes, fly fishing, stream and lake fishing, atv and motorcycle trails and more. Make wonderful memories! Sawtooth Soul
This cite is very conveniently located for a lot of great hikes and hot springs right on the edge of the sawtooths. However, the site was less than 20 feet from highway 21- a majorly traveled road with a lot of vehicle traffic all night. When we got here the cite was extremely dirty, with plastic cups, paper towels, and random other pieces of trash thrown around. I assume this was left by some not so respectful campers before us, but should have been checked by the host prior to our arrival. We were also disappointed by the lack of easy river access. To get to the river, which is down a very steep cliff, you generally have to walk/drive down the road to the trailhead and go down on the other side. The river is beautiful and views from camp are nice, but overall disappointing for this price.

Sawtooth Soul - loved our stay!
Thank you Anne - great site! Loved the location & the bathroom was super clean and water easily accessible to refill our van. To be able to take our morning coffee down and sit by the river in the sunshine was magical. Will definitely recommend to anyone traveling this way!

It was a well kept, clean site. Anne, the host, was great about directions and where everything was located on the site. It was quite a challenge to get to the river, but all in all it was a wonderful place.
