Slide Ranch is located on the Marin coast, on land that has a rich history in connecting people to food. The Miwok once fished and foraged for food at this site, and in the late 19th century Portuguese dairy farmers purchased the land and produced milk and butter for residents of San Francisco. In 1969, 134 acres of this fertile coastline were rescued from commercial development and purchased by the Nature Conservancy. The Slide Ranch nonprofit organization was established in 1970, becoming one of the first Park Partners in the Golden Gate National Recreation Area.Discover the magic of Slide Ranch spending the night overlooking the Pacific Ocean in your own tent.

The campsite offers breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean and provides a serene escape with sounds of ocean waves and wildlife. While it's a great spot for nature lovers and families, it's important to note that the half-mile walk from the parking lot can be challenging, especially with gear. The communal kitchen dome is rustic but functional, though campers should be prepared to bring their own pots and pans. Some visitors have noted the presence of poison oak and ticks, so awareness is key when exploring the area.

I didn't realize how far the walk would be from the parking lot to the campsite. The campsite was also really muddy so I ended up not camping there.

Amazing camping experience
Tent
Loved this site! It was my first time backpacking ever and first time solo camping. I felt very safe as a woman by herself due to the proximity of other campers and families. There wasn’t any sort of check in process though and it wasn’t clear where the trail went so I got lost for a while. The hike in is around 10-15 mins and is absolutely gorgeous. I loved my time here and I will definitely come back!

What an incredibly beautiful spot. The folks who were there were so helpful. My cousin was here from Germany, and got to watch the sunset over the Pacific for the first time ever at this stunning site. Would pack a little lighter next time, but DEFINITELY coming back.
