Our property is .3 acres. It is on a semi rural street, private property in the midst of nature. The little cabin sits above a creek which flows and roars like a river in the winter. In the spring enjoy the beauty of the wild flowers and blossoming trees. The deer come in and out- it is difficult to maintain a vegetable garden! We are ten minutes from the Samuel P Taylor camp ground and 30 to 40 minutes from the coastal trails in the Point Reyes National sea shore. Nearby, hiking trails abound, There are trail maps in the cabin. Tomales bay is 30 minutes down the road. Our property is home to a small grove of redwoods, one very large redwood, many fir trees and old ivy covered trees that line the creek. The fences on either side of the property crawl with wild grape vines and a large cherry tree stands next to the cabin. The bathroom is in the main house. This is a good home base for hiking, biking, resting and showering. We are in San Geronimo, CA. A hundred years ago, a train ran through our property. Now my husband and I live in this bird paradise, flat and surrounded by many trees. A creek runs nearby. There is restaurant five houses up the street, and a deli three miles up the road. The tiny cabin has coffee tea, a mini fridge, microwave, toaster, blender, and strong wifi It is a two minute walk to the bathroom in the main house. Your towels will be on the upper rack. Enjoy the peace of the land. We are 40 minutes from Point Reyes and 45 mins from the point Reyes seashore. Heading south, San Francisco is about a 45 minute drive. Hiking trails abound near my house. Fairfax is a bustling little town 7 miles away, over Whites Hill. Enjoy riding the bike trails on Mt Tam or on the water shed open space. Samuel p Taylor park is about 5 miles away. Enjoy!

Although host Laurel was cordial and did her best to set us up, the place did not leave us with a good feeling. The room appeared to be fine for a short stay, but smelled thickly of dust and the sheets made us itch. Overall the cleanliness was not at all up to our standards. The shared bathroom is in rough shape and has a fair amount of mold and was simply unclean, ultimately this led us to leave before the end of our stay. I hate to leave a poor review, but even for a hipcamp in someone's backyard which is expected to be a bit rustic, we would not recommend this one.

Laurel is a delightful host, so friendly and welcoming. The cabin is pretty basic but comfortable. I would definitely return again. For me it was a great spot to launch from for hikes and exploring pt reyes.

The Egret’s Nest was the perfect place for a peaceful getaway. Spent the day enjoying Point Reyes and the evening enjoying the sweet little cabin. Laurel was delightful and really made me feel welcome. My favorite part had to be the deer outside my window each morning. The bathroom is very close to the cabin and wasn’t an issue. I highly recommend!
