This was one of the most special weekends I’ve had in a long time. Ilan could not have been more welcoming, and the property is absolutely gorgeous. Best kept secret in so cal :)))
The site was great -as advertised. It was perfect for an off the grid get away to enjoy with the sounds of nature. It takes about 20 min to get up the dirt road to the accommodation, and with an AWD vehicle we did great. The evenings were cool once we opened the doors to get some air flow. The space was ideal for 2 people and loved that it had running water,a toilet, and a small grill to cook and heat water. The only thing was the bees tend to come out in the morning. I would totally recommend this place for anyone looking to get back to nature but wants some basic amenities. It was very clean as well.
This place was great! Very special way to "rough it" without camping - you have a bed, walls, and toilet what else could you ask for? It's beautiful, the design is lovely, the sustainability aspects are amazing. It's a winding dirt road up to the cabin. We brought distilled water to "shower" in by putting it in a tree. On our first day we went to Trail of 100 Giants and stopped at the Brewery. On our second day we spent it at the river. If you go during the heat of summer be aware there are definitely bugs including "protein bees" so be prepared! Honestly a fantastic experience and I would recommend it to anyone.
I had such an amazing time at the architect’s cabin! The view was absolutely breathtaking. I highly suggest making sure to be up for sunrise! I had a great time exploring Sequoia Forest and having some solitude at the cabin! It’s very remote and a great place to go to escape the craziness of LA and get some peace. It’s very nice and clean! I can’t wait to go back!
Beautiful cabin. It gets very hot in the summer, but has a nice breeze with the doors open. Great view, secluded, clean space. Dirt road up to the space, but it was well maintained and my small car handled it just fine.
We loved the view. Sunrise and sunset are a dream, and you get great stars at night. Kern River is about half an hour away and is perfect to post up on in the summer heat, and Trail of 100 Giants and Nobe Creek Falls are about an hour and half’s drive (a stunning, beautiful drive).
A few tips to keep in mind:
- there are a lot of bees here and in Sequoia National Forest in general, so something to keep in mind for any trip to the area. Would recommend bringing a natural bee deterrent.
- the last 20 minutes of the drive is dirt road - our basic Honda Civic handled it fine!
- it’s about ten degrees cooler than town since it’s so high up - a welcome relief on our heatwave trip.
- no fridge, so pack an ice box! Kitchen has pots, pans and basic plates and cups, and there’s an outdoor stove that works great.
