The rugged terrain of far northern California is one of the few mostly untouched places left to retreat to. Come dwarf yourself under the magnificent giant redwoods and be struck with awe by the mesmerizing jade colored Smith River. The property is a mere 20 minutes from some of the world's tallest trees. Come check out Stout Grove, a rarely crowded gem of the Redwood National and State Parks. The grove is a part of Jedediah Smith Redwood State Park which is the least developed and most impressive park of the four. From your campsite you will have a lovely view of a large bend of the Smith River. It boasts impressive runs of chinook and steelhead, and is host to many other native species. Keep an eye out for bear, mink, and otters! And secure any food or attractants at night. Our property gives you the chance to disconnect from daily life and recalibrate. Use our site as an extended getaway for some peace and quiet, or a launch point to the variety of local attractions. Find us on Instagram- @campjaderiver! Kick up your feet on our platform overlooking the beautiful Smith River and enjoy the only undammed watershed in California. The platform is large enough for most tents if you'd like to sleep with a front-row view. Meadow space is also available for tents, and there is parking for camper vans and trailers. Escape to our campsite for the perfect springboard to the breathtaking natural landscapes found only on California's rugged north coast. You will have two acres of waterfront all to yourself. There are neighboring properties but folks generally keep to themselves. We are slowly rehabbing the property into an off-grid haven. Come spend time on the river and enjoy our swimming holes, open meadow, oak grove, and cozy fire pit. Make sure you bring lamps and lanterns for camping the old-fashioned way, utilizing our clean water spigots and pit toilet that keep us off-grid! The property is surrounded by hiking trails, biking trails, swimming spots, fishing holes, and more! Within 30 minutes we have the magnificent redwoods forests, dramatic northern California beaches, wonderful restaurants and breweries, and all the in town amenities you could need. If you have specific interests, feel free to reach out for recommendations. The north coast is both an adventure-center and a place to relax and disconnect from the distractions of our busy lives. The property is a few miles up the south fork of the Smith River which is a doorway to the Smith River National Recreation Area. You won't have cell phone service at the site, but can get that and anything else you might need just a few miles away in Hiouchi. Dogs are welcome to enjoy our space too! We encourage you to bring your pets. Leashes are not required but bear in mind our land is not completely fenced. Please have your pet under voice control for their safety and as courtesy to nearby landowners.

Beautiful property and more than enough space for my boyfriend and I. Had the perfect amount of privacy and felt safe. The trail to the river wasn’t super crazy for us but would definitely advise to be careful. There was a rope to guide you the whole way which was key, as long as you watched your step and used the rope you should be fine but depends on your hiking experience. Overall would definitely want to come back and recommend to others!😊

Beautiful doesn't even begin to describe this area. Not only is the drive up full of incredible views but the land itself has a perfect surrounding of trees for miles. There is no cell service for miles making this the perfect area to get away and enjoy nature. The river flowing through the property not only makes for a beautiful view but perfect white noise for falling asleep at night. Like other reviews have said the path down to the river is a little sketchy but most of my party was able to make it down without issue. There is a nice fire pit area and a deck overlooking the river as well. I would absolutely recommend this campsite to everyone I know.

Off Grid Moments

GPS got me there with no problem 😁 Parked close to the river, went to sleep listening to it's gentle flow 💦 Huge property all to myself ☮️ Lots of water spiquets depending on where you choose to park Deck overlooking the water. Large gravel fire pit space, so it is not mucky Fenced and gated for a feels of safe and secure. Dogs love the field and grass. The river is deep and crystal clear Full moon was amazing. Quiet and calm location 💯
