Bright Bear Camp is a private two-acre property bordering Tahoe National Forest. We are located at 4300' elevation down a mostly dirt road along the beautiful Bear River and Bear Valley. This is a very peaceful spot among the trees with a small meadow and creek on the property.
As our name suggests, bears are occasionally in the area so keep an eye out. You may also see the spotted owls that live nearby - listen closely for their calls (https://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/Spotted_Owl/overview).
There is much to explore in the area and more with only a short drive to the South Yuba River, Emerald Pools, Lake Spaulding, Donner Pass, Donner Lake, and Truckee.
Kelley's campsite offers a peaceful and secluded retreat, making it a favorite among campers. The host, Kelley, is consistently praised for her warm hospitality and helpfulness, ensuring guests feel welcome and at ease. The site is well-equipped with clean bathrooms, an outdoor shower, and convenient amenities like a dishwashing sink, contributing to a comfortable camping experience. While the natural setting is beautiful and serene, some visitors have noted the presence of mosquitoes, which can be quite bothersome during warmer months.
Weather was rather unkind for our brief stop in November, poured with rain the entire time, but we received a warm welcome from the host, who was very helpful. Hard everything that was needed, conveniently located and well priced. Indoor and outdoor plumbing was a plus.
Absolutely wonderful cabin! You can tell just how much thought and care went into building this little oasis in the woods - high quality amenities, neat and very comfortable, well stocked and organized, and Kelley was incredibly responsive and helpful before, during, and after our stay.
Highly recommended for anyone staying in the area who wants the camping experience, but also a few extra comforts :)
Very cool campsite among the trees. Host was awesome and helpful with information. Nice bathroom, outdoor shower and sink for dishes! We loved it and wish we could have stayed longer.
