We wanted an escape spot. Quiet, secluded, and gorgeous. We stumbled across this HUGE open area just 1 hour outside of LA, and decided it was a perfect getaway from our normal city lives. So perfect, we wanted to share it with others!  Learn more about this land: Perfect spot for complete silence and isolation in the beautiful Californian desert. This is a spot for campers to enjoy the valley view at sunrise or sunset, take a walk or climb around the quartz filled rock structures, dirt bike or 4-wheel down desert dirt roads or just play in the sand. Ultimately we had a wonderful time yet all signs getting there are gone and trash lined the entire, very sandy “driveway” getting to the site. The site itself was clean. I don’t recommend parking where they recommend unless you want to get stuck. We stopped just before it and avoided completely. We had all-wheel vehicles, would not want to do that in a 2x4. Noise from the road is real yet didn’t bother us being from a big city. If you have experience driving in uneven sand and come prepared, should have a great time.

4WD absolutely necessary!
Overall we had a good time, because it was nice to get away from our busy city life and spend time outside with our dog. Directions: There was no blue sign with a star and arrow like the instructions said, so follow your gps to get to the driveway. Otherwise, directions were very detailed and easy to follow to get to the parking spot. Vehicle: We drove an AWD SUV and ended up getting stuck in the soft sand right at the designated parking area. We were trying to reverse into the spot, but stopped gaining traction as there isn’t much gravel at the spot. I called the owner and she picked up right away. She said there were rugs to put under our tires to help gain traction, or a shovel, but unfortunately neither were to be found at the site. So we ended up having to call a tow truck to pull us out to the distance he recommended, which was about 40 yards away. FYI the tow driver said we were his 4th call for this exact situation, and got another call while he was with us! I wouldn’t recommend driving any 2WD or sedan. After a couple speed bumps, we decided to make the most of things and had a great time playing games, grilling dinner and s’mores, and stargazing by the fire. This site is private and safe, with some street noise going on through the night. It wasn’t ideal for the kind of layout and conditions we expected, but is a great place just outside the city to relax in the outdoors.

Nice and simple
Group trip
I liked the spot, a nice little place to get out to for a night. It was very sandy but it is possible with 2wd for sure if you play your cards right and know how to navigate sandy areas with patience. It’s a bit close to the main road but if you look the other way there are beautiful rocks you can hike up to that resemble jumbo rocks from Joshua tree national park so that was awesome.

Fabulous getaway
This site was great! Picnic table, fire ring, and lights. It was very quiet and we slept well. Lots and lots of space.
