I have two properties which offer two different kinds of camping, which I have tried to itemize separately in the Hipcamp listings. The pictures were hard to sort out.RV's and Campers will park on the upper level at the Panama Street address which has water and electricity. You cannot actually see the Ohio River from the parking lot, but it is a short walk. Any pictures of water were taken from the tent camping site. If you are in a large vehicle, but are looking to spend a lot of time by the river,, you can hope that the site is available for use, which usually it is, (somehow I rarely book both places at once), or you can book both sites. Tent campers set up their tents right beside the river. There is a very simple house with a bathroom, cold running water, electricity, and also provides shelter in bad weather. It's an unusual set up, as perhaps Hipcamper spots often are. On one hand I feel like I am in the middle of nowhere when I am on these (small, very not fancy) properties by the river. On the other, there are planes, trains, barges and pleasure boats, and motorcycles passing by at times. California is just a few minutes off I-275 from the Kellogg exit, and a 15 minute drive from Cincinnati. It is the eastern-most neighborhood with a quaint village feel. Safe, flat, scenic and walkable, California offers several dining experiences, one a brewery, and quite a variety of recreational experiences. Riverbed Music Center, in season, is a mile away, walking distance, as is Belterra, the race track/casino. The bike trail is a few blocks away and connects to all the other area bike trails including the Loveland Bike Trail along the "Wild and Scenic" Little Miami River. A local nature preserve, California Woods, offers hiking and nature programs, and there is even the California Golf Course. A park with large, grassy open spaces and small playground is a few blocks away. Bring your game of horse shoes, corn hole, a frisbee to throw, your skateboard, golf cart, or some bikes just to cruise around and take in the scenery. The Little Miami River flows past Armleder Park a few miles away, which has a gravel river beach, a dog park, walking and biking trails and connects to the 5 mile loop around Lunken Airport. There is a lot to do in Cincinnati.

RV Campers park in an open, gravel lot next to a flower garden and small farm with horses. It is a short walk to sit by the river and there is a patio with table and chairs, and lots of chairs that you can take closer to the water. I would need to know if you are planning to sit by the river or make regular use of the river property, which is a different site, and might be booked. I can block this site if you plan on hanging out by the river. If you are in town for reasons other than to sit or relax by the river, then please let me know so I can keep the listing open. California, Ohio is a community on the Ohio River about a twenty minute drive upstream from Cincinnati. Safe, flat, scenic and walkable, California is actually the eastern-most neighborhood of Cincinnati, but has it's own small town or quaint village atmosphere. California boasts several dining experiences, one a brewery, and quite a variety of recreational experiences. Riverbend, a music venue in season, is a mile away, walking distance, as is Belterra, a race track /casino. The bike trail is a few blocks away and connects to all the other area bike trails including the Loveland Bike Trail along the Wild and Scenic Little Miami River. A local nature preserve, California Woods, offers hiking and nature programs, and there is even the California Golf Course. If watching baseball leagues play games is your cup of tea, there is a large sports complex with ball fields in California. A town park with trees and large, grassy open spaces and small playground is a few blocks away. Bring your game of horse shoes, corn hole, a frisbee , your skateboard, golf cart, or some bikes to cruise around on and take in the scenery. The Little Miami River, a National and State Wild and Scenic River, is also nearby, as is Armleder Park, with a dog park, river beach, kayak/canoe launching, and walking and biking trails which also connect to the 5 mile loop around Lunken Airport.

What a place to pitch a tent - right next to the Ohio River! Hang out on a gently rolling grassy riverfront property with trees, sky and water, and the wooded Kentucky hills on the other side. Decisions: Sun or shade, open area or in the grove of silver maple trees? Bring your hammock. Watch the boats go by. Tent campers set up their tents overlooking the river. In case of bad weather, rain, storms, or it's too hot or cold, you are welcome to take shelter in the house. There are no beds or couches, but lots of tables and chairs. Porch furniture. It is cozy, but simple, with running cold running water, a bathroom and electricity - lights and outlets. It is interesting and relaxing to watch the barges and pleasure boats go by. On one hand I feel like I am in the middle of nowhere when I am there by the river. But there are occasional planes, trains, barges and pleasure boats, and sometimes motorcycles passing by at times. The River can be mesmerizing and serene, shimmering in the western sun, or busy with weekend pleasure boats and barge traffic. Take a walk around town, then sit by the river and watch the boats go by. Relax, set up your grill and enjoy the sights and sounds of the Ohio River. Perfect for river rats. Downtown Cincinnati is 15 or 20 minutes away with no traffic, and there are two or three ways to get there. There is a lot to do in Cincinnati. My place in California is just a few minutes from the I 275 exit.

The RV site was quiet and level with plenty of room. It was close to Riverbend Music Venter where we enjoyed a concert. Polly was responsive and lovely to chat with. I would stay here again.

Polly’s place is soooo convenient for staying in Cincinnati. Very charming neighborhood and right on the river. The spot I had felt a little in the way for day to day animal care (mini horses, a pony, and a donkey!! <3 ) but nothing that would deter me from coming back!

Second time tent camping here and absolutely love it. Lots of space for options when pitching tent and the building with an indoor restroom is a huge plus. Relaxing views while barges, boats, rowers, etc. pass by on the river. Polly is a great communicator and accommodating host.

Great lot and we also rented the river lot which was great for our dogs, we went to a concert at river bend and it was 1 mile from the event and casino. Polly is a great host and we will make this a regular stop for us

Polly’s place worked really well for us! We pitched our tents under the trees along the river. It was nice sitting there watching boats go by. Getting there was conveniently close to I275. Having access to the water toilet and sink was much appreciated. Polly communicated well.

Attended a concert at Riverbend and this site was 1 mile away. Loved watching the riverboats during the day, and the concert was an easy 20 minute walk. Only a couple of blocks into town and a few restaurants, one of which was a great BBQ place.. Site was quiet and secluded, yet close to everything.

Excellent quiet spot directly on the river. Be aware that the Google directions aren't exactly correct, but Polly's instructions were spot on. The land is sloped towards the river but there is adequate flat space for a tent or more and trees enough for two hammocks. The house on the property is very sparse so expect to bring all camping needs aside from a table, chairs, and running water. The site is about a 15 minute walk to Riverbend with a paved sidewalk the whole way. The property does not have direct access to the river but it looks like the area does. Polly was super responsive to messages and very easy to work with. We will be back for future concerts and waterfront enjoyment!

The view is beautiful and really great places to eat within biking/walking distance. Especially recommend Pig Candy at the entry to Eldorado St. The site has a “cabin” with a working toilet but the shower has no hot water. Polly was accessible with any concerns and we absolutely enjoyed our stay.

Loved my stay! Polly was very helpful and the stay was quaint. My cats loved watching the birds by the mulberry tree and being by the river and the animals was a great experience. I highly recommend!

Polly’s land right on the bank of the Ohio River had recently flooded. It was still beautiful and peaceful. We appreciated that Polly made a special trip to help us with a lock and key issue , on a rainy Friday night! The carport shelter was great in the rain, camping in our van.

I really enjoyed my stay here, the river is beautiful and mesmerizing and I enjoyed watching the boats and barges glide by. In the morning hours there was paddlers and rowing training. Very peaceful and everything you need for a relaxing stay!

Unique camping spot on the river. Easy in and out location. Food and entertainment within walking distance. Nice to just sit back and watch the river traffic, trains across the river, and airplanes flying overhead. The house is a bonus and gives you access to electric, water, bathroom, and shelter in case of a storm. I've recommended to my friends, and will be back!

This was a great spot! It is right on the river with a great view and Polly was really great to communicate with. There is a small building as well with a bathroom and electricity. I would camp here again in the future.

We are back again. Love this site. Easy access just minutes off I-275. Flat easy set-up. Very good restaurants nearby, easy walk. Being close to the beltway it is just a few minutes to all Cincinnati. Polly is just the sweetest host.

Quiet. Short distance to river. Polly let us meet her horse, mini pony and donkey. She also share the restrauants that were in walking distance, which we liked. Definitely will stay here again

Great stay over in the Queen City

This is a great location. Just minutes off the interstate. Lot is level so setup is easy. River is just a short walk away. Camp is quiet. Many stores and restaurants nearby and it's just minutes to many attractions in the Cincinnati area. We have enjoyed staying here three times and will return again.

Location, Location, Location!!! Only a mile down the road from Riverbend Music Center! Polly is very kind, super helpful and provides great communication. If you need an overnight stop for a concert this spot is a great solution with electric and water. Thanks Polly! We will be back.

We loved this spot! It was peaceful and quiet, and we walked down to the river each morning with our coffee. We were able to hook up to both water and electric. Polly was responsive to our questions via text. It was a 15-20 minute drive to everything we wanted to explore in Cincinnati. (I highly recommend the beer cavern tour with American Legacy.) We’d definitely stay at Polly’s hipcamp again!

Having a great view of the river, privacy, indoor bathroom, plug ins and a place to take shelter indoors in case of inclimate weather was so nice. The location worked out perfectly for staying for a concert at PNC Pavillion at RiverBend. Easy access and nearby to venue but away from downtown traffic. A nice brewery very close by with a large patio and vegan options on the menu was good for a pre-concert meal and location was also nearby to several parks/trails. Polly was helpful, communicative and friendly and though our stay was very short it worked well for what we needed.
