Weekend Trip to Lost Lithuanians Camp

We had such a peaceful stay at this cabin in the UP! The setting was incredibly quiet and relaxing—perfect for unwinding. We were pleasantly surprised by how strong and reliable the WiFi was, which made it easy to stay connected when needed. Having a hot shower after a day of exploring was such a nice bonus. Highly recommend for anyone looking to disconnect in nature without giving up comfort!

Weekend Trip to Lost Lithuanians Camp

My wife and I were looking for a weekend getaway and Michael’s cabin delivered a quintessential cabin-in-the-woods experience! It was way bigger than we had expected, with plenty of room for a family/large group, or ample space for a couple looking to relax. When we wanted to unplug, the extensive trails that Michael has created made for an enjoyable walk in the woods. My wife and I both commented how peaceful it was not hearing any cars or airplanes overhead - truly magical! When we wanted our creature comforts, there was a TV with multiple streaming services, an oven and microwave for making meals, and WiFi that was powerful enough to stream a live soccer event in Europe (seriously!). We spent our drive home talking about the next time we’d be back! Can’t recommend this place enough!

Weekend Trip to Bear Tree Homestead

We stayed at the Pond Cabin for the second time and it was just as great as the first! They now have a sauna available to reserve and I highly recommend adding it to your stay! The sauna was beautifully built and worked perfectly and they let us use it for 2 hours which was more than enough time. They also had a hole in the pond ice for a cold plunge right next to the sauna which greatly added to the overall experience. The cabin was clean and cozy. The hosts are extremely friendly and responsive. Winter/early spring is the best time to stay at the Pond Cabin. We will be back as soon as possible!

4 nights at Bear Tree Homestead

The pond cabin was really cool. Visiting the property was awesome in general. Friendly hosts, amazing territory all around the structures, interesting and welcoming animals, all around. fantastic. I can't resist making one suggestion ... It'd be really cool if there were one more big window on the south wall of the cabin. The cabin stays plenty warm, so I don't think this would be an issue for keeping heat inside the cabin overnight. It would just make things more pleasant inside the cabin during the day. I think this is the first time I've ever suggested a modification to like this after a stay, and I was completely satisfied, it's just something I wanted to share because it would make such a difference!

Weekend Trip to Bear Tree Homestead

This cabin was tucked away miles from the main road and had everything we needed. It is right next to a pond with ducks and other animals and served as the perfect weekend getaway. Jill was a fantastic host and had a solution already in the cabin for every one of our small problems. The cabin gets very warm and cozy in the winter and the outdoor toilet is clean. Nothing but 5 stars all around.

Joy and Brian were great! We went up for the UP 200. Brian plowed and prepared our site for our arrival and plowed all weekend during the snow storm. He had wood available at the public fire pit and even offered to start a fire for us . Wonderful location and wonderful hosts! Can’t wait to visit during the summer months!

Weekend Trip to Bear Tree Homestead

The whole of the experience was so much even better than we hoped for. From a short walk up the road with one of the dogs, a little sledding, a lot of laughing and relaxing.. it was so peaceful and cozy. The stars came out some for us even as it was snowing, and the cabin itself as they have it set up just felt so welcoming. This was an important retreat for my partner and I and really helped us have some quality time away from the kids and the everyday stuff.

The Acorn retreat is such a memorable getaway from the daily routine. My best friend and I were up in the area for a ski/board trip and I’m convinced there’s no better place to stay than here. From the acorn retreat, to the tiny home, and the entire homestead itself, you find yourself inspired and soothed to everything this place has to offer and the warm welcoming and conversations with April and her amazing family. I will always highly recommend this place to anyone who’s looking for a great and relaxing time. I’ve personally been here once in the fall and once in the winter and this place was jaw dropping each time and will continue to be for future visits. April is an amazing host, goes above and beyond for her guest, has amazing recommendations for the area and will help you in any way they can. We’re all looking forward to coming back and taking in this beautiful place that April’s family have created many more times. Thank you for everything!

3 nights at Bear Tree Homestead

Went with a group of 12 (6 in pond cabin and 6 in orchard cabin) during the winter of January 2025. We had a fantastic time, and Jill and her husband were very very kind and accommodating. Whenever we needed anything, we sent a message and Jill got it for us as soon as she could. Her husband was also ready to share some of his homesteading secrets for those interested in homesteading and building cabins! The best parts were the lovely rustic cabins, home-cooked meals in their well-equipped kitchen (orchard cabin), fun hikes on the North Country Trail (access point trail in the homestead), and polar plunge w/ sauna in their pond. I speak for our whole group when I say you are signing up for an experience of adventure and beauty when you rent these cabins. We couldn't have imagined a better trip when planning this. Super grateful! While we were there we got some light snow, but mostly the ice was really bad. If going in the winter, I would highly recommend a vehicle with 4WD. If you still get stuck, you can buy bags of sand from menards and put sand on the ice to give better traction, this helped us. Also pay very close attention to the directions Jill gives to get there, it's very easy to miss a particular turn and accidentally take the more rugged route to the cabin. One route is quite easy and can easily be made by almost any vehicle, the other route is easily twice as difficult and requires a 4WD vehicle in winter to make it work. If you are unsure, give Jill a call.

This property is tucked away in the woods but close enough to run into town. We had zero issues finding the place. It’s a really cute property. Hot tub was used a couple times. Little conveniences were provided within the cabin and facilities ☺️. We used microwave and hot plate for cooking. A grill was available. There were four of us adult women for a girls getaway. No issues fitting in the space.

At that time, it was known as Coleman’s Paradise Resort. There was a For Sale sign marking the property. We both knew at that point our fate was sealed to become this property’s new owners. We learned that this property had been a family vacation destination for nearly 100 years. We could only imagine the special memories that had been made here over the years! We wanted to become a part of that deep history. Through the many years of the resort’s history, the owners had changed and the cabins were showing true signs of their age. We knew there was A LOT of work that simply had to be done. On a wing and prayer, we somehow made this great resort ours. Bear Lake Meets da Yellow Dog

Your host property is 13 acres between the Yellow Dog River, and Bear Lake, with frontage on both. The Yellow Dog River is a legendary trout stream, and many artists have found that the river satisfies their need for the wild. There are two cabin sites available, One overlooking Bear Lake with sunset views, and the other a cabing that was moved to the property in 1999 to preserve it. Both sites share amenities such as the outhouse, communal fire pit and water, but the cabins are not in close proximity so everyone has their privacy. They are both rustic cabins having no running water, or electricity. A futon with mattress cover is provided in each cabin along with a table and chairs. See the individual site descriptions for more details. We are 20 miles (app) north of Marquette, which is my home town. It is a destination for bikers, skiiers, and outdoor rec folk! There are so many things to see and do in Marquette, so make sure to plan enough time to check out the town! Also, just six miles to our north is historic Big Bay. A lumber town back in the day, it is full of history. Check out the Thunder Bay Inn, where parts of Anatomy of a Murder, starring Jimmy Stewart and Lee Remick were filmed. Don't miss going to the Lumberjack to see where the actual murder took place, either! You will find good eats and perhaps even some live music at either establishment. You'll also find everything you need in the way of groceries, and gas at Cram's General Store, where there's also a laundromat. Burns landing just north of the marina has the historic Burns family home renovated in a park setting, and a public beach access to mighty Lake Superior. This park has picnic tables and grills, and even a handicap accessible outhouse and trail to the lake. Yellow Dog falls is a short drive on Co. Road 510, and on the way be sure to climb Thomas Rock overlook. There are new bike trails if you're into that as well! Stay awhile. You'll be glad you did! We strive to offer peace and serenity to our guests, and love to share these woods with those needing tranquility and respite from a busy world. In this sensitive environmental area, we have only two sites to keep traffic down, enhance our visitors experience, and to protect the wildlife here. Unplug with us, eh!

Our property is located between Marquette and Negaunee, in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. We are approx 8 miles from the shores of beautiful Lake Superior and 53 miles from Pictured Rocks National Park. We are about 4 miles off of US 41 nestled in a quiet forest like setting. We built our home here in 2019 and are continually making improvements to the land. We tap our trees for maple syrup in the spring-you will drive by our "sugar shack" and raise chickens in our very nice coop -no roosters to awaken you! Come and enjoy some peace and quiet at our Northern Oasis! There is guest internet but its patchy in camping area-better closer to the house and large firepit area We have a charcoal grill near communal firepit area. We are near 2 river basins(McClure Basin and Dead River Basin) for fishing, swimming and boating ( kayaks and canoe for rent on this site-see extras! ) We are on the route of the Ore to Shore Mountain Bike epic and not far from the North Country Trail. We have options of open sites and a few more private wooded sites. There are at least two or three areas for campers and several choices for tents and/or hammocks. There is a communal/central fire pit, picnic table area as well as a larger fire pit with picnic table closer to house. There is fire wood available on this site -see "extras" or for purchase when you get here! If you don't like spots available when you arrive please don't hesitate to contact us-we do have other options! There are yard games including "Corn Hole", extra chairs and a small table in the red shed. This can also be used as a storm shelter if needed! There is an outhouse and a "port-a-john" on site.

The southern half is home to 8 charcoal kilns which employed a community prior to ownership. The mountain is approximately 1.8 billion years old. Learn more about this land: This property has 2 tent sites at the western base of Hogback Mountain. Site 1, The Falls Site, is located on a spring fed stream. The hike from parking to tent site is 1/4 mile on a well-marked hilly path. Campers can park at the main property on County Road HD or on the Garden Road, and will need to pack supplies to their site. Site 2, The Garden Site, is 100 feet from the stream and campers can drive to and park their vehicles at the site. Site 3, Mountain View Cabin, includes an outhouse and sauna. Sites have picnic tables, fire pits, and an outhouse. Campers are responsible for removal of all other waste. The 2-foot wide stream provides water for washing, but is not considered potable, and use of filters or boiling water is recommended. These isolated sites are beautiful and rustic and nestled in the midst of the Noquemanon Trail Network (cross country skiing and mountain biking) and North Country Trails and are approximately 2 miles from Lake Superior, Harlow Lake and Dead River. 4 kayaks/paddles/life vests and a 12 foot boat are available for camper use. Old Cedar Lodge

Lovely cottage on Autrain Lake near all of the sites to see in the area. Currently offered as B&B in our main cabin but homeowner will be in separate quarters. You will be in a private cabin. There are three bedroom areas upstairs with a full modern bath. One room Full bed, One room Queen bed, and the third is an open area with a privacy curtain and sitting area as well as a King bed. The living area has light seating area with a twin pull out loveseat, and two recliners. We have kayaks available for use. A small dock. There is some erosion on the bank we are currently working on but no beach, its in the process. Pets are allowed but please do not allow off leash or out of small fenced in area. All pet owners must clean up after your pets outside and if you leave for the day you are responsible for them. I recommend kennel trained as they act completely different and strange place. Ours are the same. Owner is around but can not watch pets as we work full time. I can check for a local teen to provide day care if requested. Breakfast foods will be supplied but there will no cooking provided. If you have special requests for breakfast foods please forward that information one week prior to arrival.
