Discover the most magical spots to pitch your tent or park your rig on your next Boston National Historical Park adventure.
Set on 43 acres in the heart of Boston, this park highlights the American Revolution and the creation of one of the first naval shipyards in the United States. Start your journey at one of two visitors' centers - Faneuil Hall or Charlestown Navy Yard. Here you'll find maps, brochures, and information on Ranger-led tours. History buffs and naval enthusiasts will enjoy walking along the 2.5-mile Freedom Trail. If you've got kids with you, pick up a copy of the Junior Ranger Handbook.
Historical highlights in downtown Boston include the Old South Meeting House, Old State House, the Paul Revere House, and Old North Church. Just over the bridge in Charlestown, you'll find Bunker Hill Monument, the site of the first major battle of the American Revolution.
Don't forget to check out the USS Constitution, the oldest commissioned ship in the United States Navy. The ship is open to the public on a first-come, first serve basis and separate from the museum. Also consider visiting the USS Constitution's younger counterpart, the USS Cassin Young.
With over 70,000 photographs, architectural drawings, and shipyard records to explore, one could spend many hours here. Why not stay a little longer and bask in Boston's rich history? You can easily find campgrounds in the area with Hipcamp!
