While Rock Springs Run State Reserve is primarily known for its natural beauty and outdoor activities, it's important to note that the park is co-managed with the purpose of hunting. During select weekends from September through January, hunting is permitted within designated areas of the reserve. However, rest assured that the park remains open for normal activities during these hunt weekends. To ensure the safety of our visitors, some trails may be temporarily closed and all hunting areas and trail closures are clearly posted.

The best time to visit Rock Springs Run State Reserve is during the cooler months from October to April, when the weather is pleasant for outdoor activities. Summer brings heat and humidity, making it less comfortable for hiking and camping. Note that certain trails may be closed during hunting weekends from September through January.
