We are located between Custer State Park and Wind Cave National Park along Hwy 385 and the Mickelson Trail; about 30 minutes from Mt. Rushmore and Crazy Horse Mountain.
The nearest towns with restaurants are Pringle, (2 miles S); Hot Springs, (24 miles S), Custer, (9.5 miles N).; Hill City, (24 miles N), and Rapid City, (50 miles N).
The blacktop driveway grants easy access for every type of vehicle.
A couple of ponds, creeks, and dispersed willow, pine, and aspen trees enhance the diversity and beauty of the landscape. It is peaceful here and we enjoy sharing it with our guests during the spring, summer, and fall seasons.
Plenty Star Ranch Retreat has our home, a big pole barn (RV storage), a garage/wood workshop with an attached restroom for all guests, a regular hot water shower cabin, 2 small home-built camping log cabins, 7 RV sites, 9 clearly marked tent and car-camping sites, and several water hydrants fed by our well, providing great quality drinking water. 2 pets maximum per campsite, no pets allowed when booking a cabin.
Check-In is 2 pm to 9 pm; Check-Out is 10 am for the cabins and 11 am for all other sites.

As the owners of Beaver Lake Campground for the past several seasons Julian and Kachina Starr are amazed at how fortunate they are to have purchased this very special campground. The Black Hills area is spectacular with so many things to do and see. You could spend a month here and still not see it all. The summer weather is perfect with warm but not hot days and cool summer nights due to the 5,300-foot elevation. Perfect for evening campfires.
Living and working in the Black Hills National Forest is incredible. They feel very happy to be in such calm, peaceful surroundings.
Julian and Kachina have accomplished many updates, and improvements in the time they have been here. Everything from not-so-exciting infrastructure, well pumps, electrical upgrades, painting, swimming pool pump, etc., and have attempted to give this beautiful campground a more inviting atmosphere, comfortable seating on the office patio, beautiful flowers, unique pinecone art, upgrades to the cabins, mini-fridges in all cabins, new mattresses, electrical improvements and more.
The Starr’s 25-year experience in the RV business in Gold Beach, Oregon, and Durango Colorado has given them lots of warm memories and some funny stories too. They look forward to many more great guest experiences greeting and serving old and new friends.

We loved staying at Bear Den! Tammy and Tim are the most welcoming hosts — we immediately felt like a part of their family! As our 5-year-old told us when they went back to their house after greeting us… “They’re so nice, I wish they didn’t have to go.” :) The cabin was cozy and perfect for our family of four. We were extra impressed by the cleanliness of the facilities, and amenities we didn’t expect. Our kids loved exploring the property, seeing the stars at night, and waking up to watch the deer right outside the cabin. The location was great, and pretty central for all the things we wanted to do. Our whole family hopes to visit again, and we will tell all our friends to make a trip to the Black Hills to stay with Tammy and Tim!

We had the most amazing time at Lil Bear! Tammy and Tim are so kind and made us feel so at home! Our cabin was stocked with little snacks, was so cozy, had heat, coffee machine and it was just the best! Would absolutely recommend for a weekend getaway!

Weekend Trip to Naked Acres WY
Our stay at Melissa’s Hipcamp site was incredible! The cabins were so nice and cozy, and the outdoor kitchen and shower were great. The property is beautiful and we were so happy we got to stay there on our road trip. I only wish we could have been there for longer!! We will definitely be coming back!

We loved staying at the Bear Den cabins! Tammy gave us clear instructions to where/how to find it and was very communicative and friendly! 😊 The location is quiet and secluded, other than the sound of the neighbors clucking chickens (which I loved!), and the passing turkey and deer through the property. We had our two dogs, which I reached out in advance about having multiple dogs and she was very accommodating. We’d love to be back!

This was the perfect location for our 3 day Mickelson trail bike ride. Our cabin was clean and cozy, and even though located on the highway, traffic sounds were almost non-existent at night.

This getaway in the magical Black Hills was such a nice retreat. The cabins are cozy (I slept so well!) and the host has thought through so many of the small details that make for a great stay - ample towels and kitchen supplies and a well-stocked shower.

The cabin was cozy and just what we needed. We did bring a mattress topper as we noticed from the images the mattresses are thin and I would highly recommend bringing a topper. Tammy and Tim are wonderful hosts. They took me out to their disc golf course in the back. They made rounds every night to wish all of the campers good night.
The location is peaceful with animals like dear and turkey walking around in the morning. It is close to so many of the cheife attractions in the area.

So thankful to Missy and Chris for sharing their property! They are not only gracious hosts, but just really wonderful humans. The duo cabin set up is amazing! They had everything you need to to relax, cook, and enjoy nature. We also had great neighbors that joined for a fire at night and swapped stories while enjoying the evening. Oh, and I can't forget to mention the outdoor shower is a heavenly way to wash off a day of exploring. I can't wait to spend more time at Naked Acres!

Melissa and Chris were very welcoming & their property is absolutely gorgeous. Peaceful, quiet and relaxing getaway with beautiful scenery & wildlife. The pond was a great added bonus. The cabins were so charming and we didn’t want for anything, as everything was already thought of by the hosts. We will definitely be back and plan on bringing some friends as it’s a must see. Also the drive in was surrounded by wildflowers. Stunning!

We had a great stay at Plenty Star Ranch Retreat. Everything was as we expected. The sleeping cabin, shower facility, and restroom were all neat, tidy, and clean. The overall setting was tranquil with beautiful views of the surrounding valley. This was one of our stops on a multi-day bicycling trip along the Mickelson Trail and it worked perfectly for us.
