From the rolling hills of Lancaster County, Chiques' Rock, the sculptured rock visible at the bottom of the Conewago Falls, the White Cliffs of Conoy, and the Northwest Lancaster County River Trail there is no shortage of adventure. Our campsite offers the combination of camping fun and an endless variety of river recreation and leisure.
Retreat to a spacious primitive river front camping sanctuary in the woodland setting, nestled under the trees, where privacy and seclusion create a relaxing family-friendly experience. Our campsite is first time camper or camping enthusiast friendly! Whether you are feeding the need for your family's adventure or looking to get back to nature and relax, River Rock Recreation campsite can accommodate your needs.
You will find yourself living a unique outdoor lifestyle during your stay at River Rock Adventures campsite. A private launch allows kayak, SUP, and other paddleboat access. Public boat launches near by that allow for trailer and boat access. Fish the river banks all day and night for the biggest catch or teach a new generation of fisherman the love of the sport. Hike or bike the Northwest Lancaster County River Trail, explore all it has to offer on its 14 mile stretch from Falmouth to Columbia. The White Squirrel Properties include a cabin, rental pavilion and camp site. The camp site sits at the top of a hill and provides a secluded flat site to pitch your tent or park your van/truck camper/truck top tent.
You will have this space to yourself.
The view is breathtaking - you have a gorgeous view of the Susquehanna River, numerous sets of mountain ranges, and you are surrounded by beautiful fields. There is a rustic picnic table and a more modern high top table set with an umbrella, for your use. We have also added 4 hammock chairs that you can relax in while enjoying a glass of wine. There is a wooden platform with a small structure on it. You can stand underneath the platform and it can provide some shelter, if needed. (The structure is being renovated for a new experience next summer.)
The pavilion is a short walk and has 2 bathrooms, a shower, and a kitchen. **The kitchen is only available if the pavilion is not being rented**. There is an additional fee to rent the kitchen. Enjoy 8 beautiful, secluded acres on the Conewago Creek at Bald Hill, Northern York Co. My homestead was once part of the Conewago Turf Farm. It borders the creek a length of 1100 feet, mostly maintained with easy access. Camp is at the base of a steep section of the Conewago Mountains, creating privacy and protection from wind and afternoon sun. This is not a whole house rental. I have a one bedroom, queen size bed, kitchenette, private restroom and outdoor shower with on demand hot water. There's plenty of room for tent or van camping. Please see pictures for detail. I live in the house above the glamping quarters.
Plenty of good fishing and paddling here. I offer shuttle service for 1 or 2 day float trips, paddle in one day, paddle out the next day. Canoes, kayaks, paddles and PFD's are included in the price of your stay.
The Conewago is very beginner paddling but remote, very clean and full of wildlife. Gifford Pinchot State Park is 7 miles away. I have two paddle boards if you want to paddle the 3 mile lake. This adventure would require a short hike out to a parking area.
Relax in a wood fired Norwegian sauna and cook in a Peruvian wood fired earth oven or cook under the stars over an open fire. Firewood is also included. Foodies will rejoice here.
I live and work here, part time blacksmith and wood worker. I'll assist you in any way or do my best to stay out of your way.

I love spending time at Craig's property. This was my second visit and somehow it was better than the first trip which was amazing. We weren't able to paddle bc the creek was down, and it wasn't impactful to our fun at all. Just book it! And if you can check out the nearby dirt race track BAPS, fun for kids and adults alike.

Everything was clean and well maintained. Loved the wooden platforms, string of lights, fire pit. Unexpected bonus was some firewood and two hammocks already set up. Gorgeous view of the river and so convenient to the bike trail. Check in was a breeze. Note: As an active freight rail line goes alongside the bike trail and river, do expect train whistles and noise several times a night.

I can’t say enough great things about our stay at White Squirrel Overlook! The views were absolutely breathtaking, and there was so much space to stretch out and unwind. We were in town for a dog sporting event, and it was such a gift to return each day to a hot, sparkling-clean shower after competing. Audra was wonderful to communicate with—friendly, responsive, and welcoming. We’re already looking forward to booking our next stay!

This was my second time at Craig’s space and it did not disappoint! Great eating, beautiful scenes and amenities galore. Me and four other friends set up a tent down by creek and woke up to some of the most beautiful sunrises I’ve seen in a while. If you’re into birding, we heard and saw all kinds of amazing feathered friends.
Our dogs explored every inch of the property and we got a chance to kayak pretty far down the Conewago creek. Craig was a master host, incredibly responsive but gave us plenty of room to feel like the space was our own.

This was our second stay on Craig's little slice of Heaven and it was just as lovely as the first go round. This trip we saw wild turkeys, deer, countless hummingbirds, toads, and more. Our dog, Thor, had a ball running around off leash. Highly recommend staying here!

Incredible! We stayed here for my husband’s birthday and were completely blown away….the views are just breathtaking. Audra was very responsive whenever we messaged her and you can tell that they have put a lot of time, money and thought into the setup, including the pavilion at the base of the hill and the new upcoming bathrooms at the campsite. There is also a rooftop deck for even more spectacular views!
My husband and I brought our paddle boards and paddled on the river all day (just a three minute drive from the site). Then we came back and enjoyed dinner at our campsite :) In the morning a thunderstorm came through, which we thoroughly enjoyed watching, while sipping coffee from inside our van. Thank you so much for offering this to the public. We will absolutely be coming back!

Wonderful location - scenic creek running through the property that's great for wading, fishing, or kayaking/canoeing (depending on water level - it was a bit low when we visited in late August). The property is very well kept, well stocked, and Craig was welcoming, helpful, and friendly. We had a great location for our tent near the creek, and played some horseshoes he had set up there. The fire ring was in a nice graveled area, so no worried about rogue sparks. Overall, very enjoyable!

Absolutely incredible site! Amazing views, very private, convenient facilities located nearby. Nice to have a spot to hang out and play games if it rains. Really enjoyed the lookout platform as well. There's a bathroom in shower being finished on site as well that will be super nice to have. Saw a deer in the fields each day we were there. Host was very responsive and helpful! We will definitely be back!

We had an amazing time at Craig's place - especially our dog Baxter, who could not have been happier! We loved trying out recipes in the clay oven and having direct access to the creek. Beautiful views and solitude. Clean bathrooms. Super accommodating host even though I was a last minute booking. I had a great time and slept like a baby. Wasn’t up to cooking but there’s a great little restaurant down the road called Fire & Ice that does take out smoked meats.!! You get what you pay for - and this is very high end camping. I felt safe staying here as a solo female traveler.

One of the best Hipcamp stays we’ve had! The host, Craig, went above and beyond—building fires, keeping our dishes clean, and even shuttling us up the creek for a dreamy kayak trip. The outdoor kitchen was amazing, with a flat-top grill, one-burner electric stove, firepit, and all the pots, pans, and dishes we needed. The host's craftsmanship shows in everything—pizza ovens, sauna, and log cabin, all built by hand. There’s a queen bed inside the bedroom, great deal of outdoor space enough for our gazebo, hammocks, and tent. We enjoyed fresh herbs from the garden, magical creek bends on a leisurely kayak ride (Craig provided us the kayaks and life jackets), birdwatching, and saw big fish jumping. Walmart is only 15 minutes away by car for supplies. Some morning truck noise from the bridge and low creek water didn’t take away from how special this place was for us!

Overall great private camping spot! Perfect for bringing the dog as well. We ate at Fire and Ice Smokehouse and Creamery and it was incredible!
Only downside is, in my opinion, the price is a little high for a camp site, but for me it was well worth it to have the private site for my dogs first camping trip.

I selfishly don't want to tell y'all how great this place is. I can't speak highly enough of Craig, he will meet you where you're at in involvement (be as hands off or on as you require). He's kind, patient, and informed. The location was perfect but Craig made it a 6 star glamping experience. Craig has put a lot of time into maintaining the property and curating the vibe, and it shows. Showering in the outdoor shower during a rain shower should be on everyone's bucket list; and we didn't even get to enjoy the sauna (because July). Craig's creek shuttle is ideal for low maintenance, peak enjoyment. Craig will even take a video of you paddling for you. If you are burnt out on the city a weekend at Craig's will bring you back to life.
