The Viking longhall has been 9 years in the making by a group of semi serious Viking enthusiasts: the result is a 60 foot long building that has 18, 8,x4' sleeping berths. Set apart from the main open area it also boasts 2 meeting rooms and a kitchen. The campsite is a very peaceful place. Some go as far as to say a healing place! We are proud of what we have achieved and now want people to come out and enjoy it also. The field is close enough to the Appalachian highway (state route 32) for convenience, but far enough not to be bothered by it. The area is steeped in Native American culture. In fact, the world famous Serpent Mound is but 8 miles away, with many other Adena culture sites within easy driving distance. It's also in the heart of the Amish community. The area is known for its natural beauty with many hiking trails and canoeing opportunities. The area is awash in beauty and history from the ancient mound culture to the amish culture. The area has many hiking trails some of which are part of the buckeye trail and range in length from an easy 1 mile loop to rugged hikes of many miles. Heritage Lake Farm features Heritage Lake, of course, a 2-acre spring-fed lake in the headwaters of  Ohio's Grand River. Spend your day fishing at the catch & release pond, hiking the 2 miles of mowed trails, you are 3 miles from the Ohio Erie Prairie Bike Trail head. Ask about helping with some of the farm chores. In the evening roast s'mores on a campfire, catch fireflies, or stargaze away from artificial light. The farm is shared space with a variety of short term rental sites; however each site has over 100ft away from each other. We had an incredible time at the yurt! David was an amazing host: he greeted us and shared all kinds of local information and tips on hikes and activities and brought us coffee in the mornings. He has built a magical place and put so much passion, care and attention into everything there. The nature and activities on the property can fill days. We loved the yurt Viking decor, propane fire in the middle and the incredible layers of soft bedding! We will be coming back for sure.

We booked the Bison Tipi Retreat for a last minute, late season trip to Nether’s Flint Quarry and I am so glad we did! The property is beautiful and unique to most stays one may find. We really enjoyed watching the bison eat by the light of the moon and hearing the creek that is nearby. The kitchen supplies were adequate for cooking our meals. The tipi was roomy. The camp toilet was clean and had no smell. We are already talking about a trip here next year! This was a great break from the hustle of everyday life.

The whole Viking Longhall property is like stepping into a cute, quirky woodsy fantasy. The unique building design and landscape layout are all charming. The Creekside Cottage was simple, cozy, and well provisioned. David is an excellent host, available and very considerate. I would stay again.

I have wanted to stay at the Longhall since my visit to the Yurt several years ago and finally got my wish! My friends and I stayed at the Longhall for my 30th birthday and it was one of the most memorable birthdays I have ever had. Not only is the space remarkable, David was such a kind and generous host and made sure we had everything we needed. I hope to be back again soon— it is one of my favorite places to go for a getaway from the day to day. Our long weekend at GloryField Hospitality Farm in South Charleston, Ohio was nothing short of magical. From the moment we pulled into the spacious RV pad with our 40-ft Class A, we knew we had found a hidden gem—so much better than the crowded state parks. The level, gravel site overlooks the wetland pond and is well maintained, featuring full hookups (electric, water, and sewer), a picnic table, and a fire ring with convenient access to firewood. The site has good water pressure and well positioned connections relative to the pad. WiFi is available, but plan on using cellular or satellite if you need faster speeds for streaming or VPN. The catch-and-release pond located in a secluded corner of the property was a highlight of the trip. We caught several largemouth bass and crappie. We spent time just relaxing in the benches, listening to the birds chirping and the wind blowing through the fall corn. Kimberly, the host and owner of GloryField, was warm, welcoming, and full of local knowledge, she made us feel right at home—even inviting the family to experience a unique farm experience. If you’re looking for a place to get away into the heart of Ohio, add Gloryfield Hospitality Farm to your list!

Weekend Trip to Cherokee Valley Bison Ranch Creekside Retreat

This was the perfect place for our first time camping with two girls and our dogs. we were with a two year old (in a blow up toddler mattress), a 9 month old (in a pack and play) and two German shepherds on a dog bed. It all fit spaciously in the tipi. The amenities were great for cooking over the fire (that cast iron skillet is awesome!). And the toilet was SO CLEAN! Omg! We loved walking around the space and being able to see the bison from our site was top notch.

This place is an absolute gem! Beautiful location and views, the site is immaculate, and the host is wonderful! Couldn’t have asked for a better stay - it was really comfortable and relaxing, and I would recommend this place to friends and family in a heartbeat. We will definitely be coming back. I can’t say enough about this place - my only gripe is that I didn’t learn about it much sooner.
