Lakes abound for campers heading to Fort Loramie. Just outside of town, Lake Loramie State Park is known for its tranquil waters and both electric and non-electric campsites for RVs and tent camping. The park’s well-appointed campground also comes with a dump station, showers, flush toilets, and even a miniature golf course. Some campsites have convenient boat tie-ups in addition to the main boat launches, enticing anglers to spend the day catching crappie, bullheads, and largemouth bass. For bigger water-based adventures, head north to Grand Lake St. Marys State Park, about 25 minutes away. This 13,500-acre lake features an accessible fishing pier for catching yellow perch, carp, and walleye, while other highlights include four swimming beaches, the fully paved West Bank and East Bank multi-use hiking trails, and seasonal duck blinds for hunting. The pet-friendly St. Mary’s State Park campground has full hookup RV sites, a splash pad, and on-site laundry facilities too. Otherwise, look out for a cabin rental with heat and air conditioning, a picnic table, and a kitchenette.
