Great place to stay for a few days. It was easy to find and drive right to the camping spot. Matthew (host) is a super, super communicator. There is a nice river that you can easily see and get to from the camping spot. I loved listening to the water all night long. No AT&T cell service at the camp site. However, about a 5 minute walk away you can get to an area (the Mill) that has WiFi, showers, and a bathroom. The showers and bathroom were clean and well stocked. In the morning, before leaving, I parked my truck at the Mill and did several hours of work using the Wifi. If I’m ever in the area and need a place to stay, this would be my first choice.

We had a delightful visit, very peaceful and site 4 was very private and accommodated our 22’ trailer just fine. Sandra and Roy are terrific, very accommodating and knowledgeable of surrounding area. Exploring the area was really fun, so many vineyards and the town of Wilkesboro is very quaint. Their outdoor recreation area at Cub Creek is as wonderful as beautiful. Great pickleball play as well. Will definitely visit again.

Every thing was great. You could see other camper’s but not to close at all. When the leaves get back on the trees I doubt you would even know someone else was there. Make sure you try some of there meats in the camp store !!

We booked Site 7, but a cancellation and recommendation from Cheryl had us staying in Site 10 instead. Both were excellent sites but 10 was the perfect distance from other campers to feel like you had the whole spot to yourself. It was a couple of us doing some motorcycle camping and The Oasis was only 2 hours from Raleigh and near many solid roads for riding and exploring. But with everything at the Farm, you really didn't need to leave! A secondary road/path to these sites allowed us to come and go on the bikes with much less concern for disturbing the animals. The folks were even nice enough to deliver our firewood to the site. Site 10 was right on the creek and just the right amount of sandy to feel like an oasis. If you stay (and you should), be sure to bring a cooler and grill to buy some of their meats to cook and take a tour to check the place out. The folks were super nice and the Farm was a great place to stay.

Jessup Mill

Hi there. Here is a little rundown of everything we do at the mill…. So, as far as camping, there are two main options on either side of the river; the mill yard or primitive camping across the river. In the mill yard, we do festival style camping, meaning that there are no individual campsites per se, but rather a large grassy lawn near the mill and bathhouse with shared fire pits, picnic tables, charcoal grill, and sinks for water/dishes. We also have two platforms up in the woods that are good for a little more privacy and are completely shaded, but do require a small climb up the hill. The bathhouse has three restrooms and hot showers in each. Across the river, there are several more primitive sites that are generally very private and offer great sounds coming from the river and waterfall, but no facilities. Most sites are car accessible, and a 5 minute walk back over to the mill (or a 1 minute drive). Lastly, our newest camping spot on the primitive side is a river front beach right by the dam with space for a several medium sized tents and a private fire pit. The beach is hike-in only (2-3 minutes along a mostly flat trail). Our normal rate is $10 per person per night. Firewood is available for $10 per wheelbarrow load. We accept cash, credit card, Venmo, Paypal, and crypto. We are also fairly flexible on check in/check out times, but just let us know if you’ll be arriving at odd hours. Dogs are generally welcome as long as they are kept on leash. Here is a little rundown of tubing at the mill (May-October, weather permitting). We have two tubing options available. We have a short Fun Run that takes roughly 45 minutes, and cost $10 per person for as many rides as you’d like. The river bends sharply like a horseshoe in this section, so it makes everything accessible by foot traffic. It’s a 3 minute walk up the trail to the dam, put in and float 30-45 minutes (depending on water level), then a 5-10 minute walk back to the mill carrying your tube. There is also the longer Forks Run, which last 3-4 hours (~2.5 river miles), and costs $15. For this, we shuttle you up the river in a vehicle, and you float back to the top of the dam, then 3 minutes walking back to the mill. Most weekends, tubing starts at 11 am and the last Forks Shuttle is around 3 pm, with the Fun Run staying open till around 5. Also, with enough heads up, we can sometimes arrange for trips during the week. Our tubes are required for each person floating for insurance and liability reasons, but you are welcome to bring your own cooler tubes to carry drinks and snacks. Technically, alcohol is not permitted on the river, but what is in your cooler is your business. Either way, please bring ALL trash out with you! Water shoes are recommended, and we have life jackets on request. Most of our tubes come with bottoms and back rests, but a few are open to the water. Most weekends, reservations are not required, but it does help tremendously if we know when you want to come and how many in your group. Eden Oaks Vineyard & Campground

Eden Oaks Vineyard & Campground was a tobacco farm (antique tobacco barn still on property). The house was built in 1910 and has been updated. We purchased it in 2014 and converted it into a vineyard. We have RV sites with 50 amp and 30 amp electric hookups and water, and tents sites. For 2023 our rates are $30/night for RV Sites (50 amp or 30 amp electric hookups and water) and $25/night for Tent Sites. Tent sites do not have electricity or water hookups, but water is available at the well. (Due to inflation, 2024 our rates will be $30/night for RV Sites, $25/night for Tent Sites.) We do not have a dump station, but we do have a Port A John and a list of dump stations nearby. Campfires are allowed unless we have a state issued burning ban. Campers are responsible for controlling and extinguishing fires. Please be extremely careful during dry or drought conditions. Conveniently located one mile from Hwy 421 but remote and peaceful with plenty of room to roam on our 22 acres with grapevines, fruit trees, forest, creeks, fields, goats, Beagle and Jackabee (Beagle/Jack Russell) dogs, cows, chickens, ducks and goats. Also, we have wildlife such as birds, squirrels, groundhogs, deer, raccoons, opossums, etc. We are about 15 miles from Wilkesboro and North Wilkesboro (home of the Merle Fest and Apple Festival). Eden Oaks is 18 miles from W. Kerr Scott Dam & Reservoir, 24 miles from Stone Mt. State Park, and 10 miles from Elkin (sponsors of the Wine Festival and Pumpkin Festival). Eden Oaks is in the heart of the Yadkin Valley and Swan Creek AVAs (American Viticultural Area). We're next door (3 miles) to Raffaldini and Piccione Vineyards. Take a day trip to Boone, Blowing Rock, Blue Ridge Parkway, Mt. Airy, Winston-Salem, Charlotte or additional areas of interest. We love it here and would like to share it with you. Learn more about this land: Shaded and semiprivate in woods with creek on property. Located on a working vineyard in the Swan Creek AVA. Primitive camp sites with campfire pits. Water, garbage cans, some sites have electricity available. We offer individual sites of up to 4 people and group sites of up to 12 people. We have 3 RV sites with water and 50 amp electric service, and one with 30 amp and water. We have 4 primitive tent sites with fire pits. This property is 180 acres of woods and mountains with streams and ponds. Beautiful settings. If you like hiking in the mountains this will definitely hit the spot. YO can fish in the ponds it has blue gills and catfish. I also added grass carp there as part of weed management. This used to be an abandoned farm which I want to bring back to life. The site offers three luxury large Safari Style Tents and 4 Pioneer wagons. All tents are far away from each other to provide privacy and freedom of going Wild (still remaining civilized in your manners and careful attitude to Nature around you). Tent 1 is in the Forrest itself and it is pretty cook and serene. Tent 2 is on the top of a rocky hill overlooking the forest. Tent 3 is the most remote and closest to the ponds. It has most of the open space around it, and can be a great place for parties. We are working on making the sites and the area more comfortable, but I do not want to make it a manicured park. I want it to remain wild and still offer comfortable stay. The farm is work in progress. Eventually it will be an Ostrich farm. and have other animals too. The closest town - Lenoir is about 12 miles away . Closest Grocery store (Dollar General) - about 3 miles away. Closest Gas station - 2 miles away. Professional Tennis court, Basketball court and large kids playground are in a public park within - 5 minute drive. Lenoir has restaurants, shopping, etc. Hickory is a larger town about 25 minutes drive. Hickory Lake is a large reservoir with marina where you can rent a boat and it also offers a good game fishing. Nice swimming beach access on Lake Hickory 13 miles ( 20 Minutes) from here: Lake Hickory Wittenburg access area (Wittenburg Access Area, 175 Wildlife Access Rd, Hickory, NC 28601) Asheville is 1:25 hrs to the West, Charlotte is 1:25 hr to the East. There are couple of Ski resorts 45 minutes to an hr away.

Whether you're camping alone or with a large group, there is plenty of room in Mimi's Holler for anyone and everyone. Dogs welcome. Enjoy a newly renovated johnny house and a large deck with plenty of seating and a chiminea available for guest use. Feel free to set up camp directly on the deck or in one of many flat areas among the trees. Take a short walk to the creek for some beaver sightings or set up your hammock and enjoy the many sounds of nature. While this is a primitive campsite, you should have plenty of cellphone service. Uwharrie National Forest

Spanning over 50,000 acres, Uwharrie National Forest offers numerous hiking trails, fishing in its pristine lakes and rivers, and off-roading opportunities on designated off-highway vehicle trails. The park also provides opportunities for horseback riding, birdwatching, and mountain biking. Camping options are available at five tent and RV campgrounds through the forest as well as dispersed areas within the forest, allowing campers to immerse themselves in the natural beauty of the surroundings.

Boone’s Cave Park

About 25 minutes from Mocksville, campers can explore 7.5 miles of trails that weave through the backcountry. Fittingly named Boone’s Cave Park, wander the park’s 100+ acres—just like Daniel Boone did—on secluded forest hiking trails. Then, grab a bite at picnic shelters with stunning views of Yadkin River. Along the river, campers will find fishing spots and easy access for kayaking and canoeing. Keep an eye out for native wildflowers, butterflies, and diverse wildlife, including deer and hawks, as well. Campers can reserve their place in tent-exclusive primitive campgrounds with camping pads right in the park to spend multiple days in the wilderness.

Tanglewood Park

Only about 15 minutes from Mocksville by road, find Tanglewood Park—where campers can set up tents, park their RVs, and enjoy the park’s natural beauty. Explore scenic hiking trails, go fishing in one of two stocked lakes, or try boating and paddling adventures. Golf enthusiasts can also play on the park's championship golf courses. Cool off during hot days at the Aquatic Center, which provides a water playground and a lap pool.

Springtime brings mild temperatures and excellent weather for hiking and fishing, with some occasional rain showers. Summers can be hot and humid, with temperatures reaching the 80s and 90s—perfect for water-based activities like swimming or boating. Be prepared for potential thunderstorms during summer. In fall, temperatures start to cool down, ranging from the 50s to 70s. Winters can be chilly, with temperatures dropping to freezing or below, but they bring a peaceful and quiet time to campgrounds that remain open.
