TainoWoods Fairy Magical Sweet Land

12 sites · Lodging, Tents10 acres · Harris, NY
Jesse and Chantel are the kindhearted and dedicated keepers of this beautiful oasis. With twelve acres of pure forest and sweet river waters, our vision is to preserve and honor the ways of our ancestors for seven generations to come; and serve the community by sharing our indigenous practices. We are a healing Native American Sanctuary, and nature is our church so to all who are called to come and be present with gratitude and respect for the power of this planet. Enjoy this majestic sweet forest and feel the beautiful energy it has! We will share our indigenous ways with all who want to come join and pray with us. Each brother and sister will receive cedar to pray with their fire which represents Great Spirit(Yaya Guaturey), you can set your intensions to release what no longer serves your lives, and then to make space to receive what will bring harmony in. The East Mongaup River flows right along our land. We keep it clean and charged with good vibrations. It will surely melt away any stress you carry; sending you back home feeling renewed, restored, and rejuvenated! Our Taino Woods Sanctuary, a.k.a Fairy Magical Sweet Land, of twelve acres in the Catskills is the perfect place to commune in prayer, pitch your tent, gaze up at the stars, and unwind next to a nearby fire. This raw, soft, organic land is a home teeming with life. Listen to the birds as they sing throughout the day and into the night. (We call them the fairies). Look for the curious creatures that walk the earth like the frogs and newts. Open your ears to the sweet sounds of the East Mongaup River; and perhaps take the brief walk down to visit her. We, the land stewards, believe in making a place better than how we found it. We want to preserve the land’s naturalness and ecosystem; so we ask that you do not hurt or remove any of its animals, moss, insects, or plants; and most importantly, do not feed any of them. We look forward to hosting you on a magical journey to inner peace. Thank you and many blessings.

Camp David- 13 acres, Three Cabins

5 sites · Lodging13 acres · Newton, NJ
Nestled outside the village of Stillwater, NJ right across the Appalachian trail and the Kittatinny Mountain Ridge, Camp David sports three luxurious log cabins: > Bell's Cabin- Main cabin that sleeps up to six > The Chatham House- Sleeps up to ten > Chief's Cottage- sleeps up to ten All cabins have their own separate listing and can be booked together or combined. The main cabin, Belle's Cabin, is made from hand hewed logs and is the only cabin furnished with a king size bed. All cabins come equipped with full bathrooms, updated kitchens, wood stoves, and the main cabin has a walkout porch on the second floor. All cabins have climate controlled heating/cooling units as well as hot water. Camp David was originally a German hunting camp at the turn of the 20th century. It was later donated to the Boy Scouts in the 1940’s. By the 2000’s, it was left abandoned at which time I purchased it and began to restore it back to its true form while maintaining the cabin life integrity. I am a contractor and arborist by trade and the last ten years I have worked hard to bring the site back to life. The camp consists of 13 acres abutted by 100's of acres of state park land. There are two stocked ponds connected by a cascading stream, multiple fire pits with seating, furnished gazebo with wood stove, picnic tables, and multiple park benches located throughout the property. Below are close locations to visit: > Walpack Fish and Wildlife Management Area- Great for sightseeing, hiking, biking, fishing, hunting > Walpack Inn- Beautiful restaurant with an entire back wall, window view overseeing Kittatinny Valley > Appalachian Trail- hiking, sightseeing > Catfish Fire Tower- Great hiking and views > Buttermilk Falls- beautiful waterfalls > Long Pine Pond & Crater Lake- Both are spring fed and great for swimming and boating (clear water) > Swartswood Lake- Swimming & boating > Delaware River- Great for swimming, boating, tubing, canoeing, fishing > Delaware Water Gap National Recreational Area- More sightseeing, hiking, fishing, swimming, Bushkill Falls > Dingmans Ferry

Little Birds Farm

3 sites · Lodging, Tents120 acres · Sparrow Bush, NY
This campsite is nestled in the deep woods of a 120 acre farm that offers beautiful views coming and going. After being allowed to use the restroom at the stone farmhouse, you will then go rustic and start your 3/4 - 1 mile hike in (approximately 20 minutes to the campsite) past the fields and pond down the path into the woods. The trail is remote and you will instantly be able to leave the sights and sounds of civilization behind you and breath the clean forest air. Wear good hiking shoes because portions of the hike are uneven and rocky. This site is best for experienced campers who know how to pack light with just the essentials as there is no tractor service to this campsite. When you arrive at the campsite, you will be within 20 feet of a year round stream with brook trout and in a hundred foot tall hemlock canopy nestled between two brook meadows. A 9,000 acre forested preserve abuts our property so you will be able to completely relax, bird watch, enjoy the wildlife, or fish for a brook trout breakfast without hearing the sounds of anyone but yourselves. The campsite has a stone fire pit, split log benches for seating, a canvas privacy blind around a stand of trees where the composting toilet resides, and a food bag lift to attach your food and trash bags to about 100 yards from the campsite. Unlimited Split firewood is free next to where you will park that you can take down to the site. All trash needs to be carted out with you. We can't accept mixed trash as it will attract animals that will knock over the trashcans and make a mess. No food goes in our personal trashcans as we have learned this the hard way. Thanks! *For those that are looking for a closer walk-in site, look up our Little Birds Farm - Rolling Forest campsite also listed on Hipcamper!

Glamping in Bear Mountain with wifi provided guide

Overview

Hemmed in by the peaks and forests of the Hudson Highlands, with views spanning the Hudson River Valley, Bear Mountain is the ultimate outdoor getaway, and—bonus—it’s just a short drive from NYC. Once you’ve followed the Appalachian Trail across Bear Mountain Bridge, seen the views from Perkins Memorial Tower, and explored the hiking trails of Bear Mountain State Park, you’ll find plenty of camping options in the surrounding hills. April through November is the main season for hiking and camping—come in fall for some of the best foliage in New York state, or plan a winter trip for cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and ice skating.

Where to go

Orange & Rockland Counties

The epic Seven Lakes Drive links Bear Mountain State Park with the neighboring Harriman State Park, passing camper favorites such as Lake Welch, Lake Sebago, and Lake Tiorati. The two New York state parks encompass more than 50,000 acres of lakes, woodlands, and rivers—about the size of Brooklyn—so you won’t have to look far to find a hiking trail, boat launch, or campsite.

Lower Hudson Valley

North of NYC, Manhattan skyscrapers give way to the marshes and vine-clad hills of the Lower Hudson Valley, affording campers plenty of options for a weekend getaway. Admire the soaring cliffs of the Palisades on the New Jersey shore of the Hudson, visit the Rockefeller estate and state park preserve in Sleepy Hollow, or hop over into the Greenwich hills of Connecticut.

Catskills

North of Bear Mountain, the Catskills Mountains provide ample terrain for hikers and campers, whether you prefer a cozy cabin, luxury glampsite, or primitive tent camping. Hit the mountain biking trails at Plattekill Mountain, hike to Kaaterskill Falls, or enjoy fall foliage walks in the Catskill Forest Preserve. In winter, Hunter Mountain and Belleayre Mountain are two of Upstate New York’s most popular ski resorts.

Hudson Valley

Follow the Hudson River north to enjoy brunch and antique browsing in heritage towns like Poughkeepsie, Kingston, and Albany; go wine tasting amid Hudson Valley vineyards; or visit historic sites like the Vanderbilt Mansion and the Home of Franklin D. Roosevelt. Fishing, boating, and paddling are popular pastimes along the river, and for a unique camping experience, there are kayak-in tent campsites at Hudson River Islands State Park.
